Looking for opinions from the guys running aftermarket cams. What profiles, manufacturers, differences, etc... I have one now but is the wrong profile for the new turbo setup. I probably won't be running over 4500 and really don't want to run it that hard. Compound setup not a big single. How have the cams effected your applications? Thanks in advance for any information.

X2-I will be looking for something this winter to help out, but I want to keep my low end power and DDing of the truck. Any merit to big cams cutting down "swirl" and hurting low end DD of the truck? or is that just extreme cams? I honestly have no clue.

In a vaccum situation maybe but i dont believe that would affect the swirl in a presure situation.I know like in head porting you open it up and make it more efficent flow so your boost psi goes down but your still moving the same amount just more efficently.

The shop truck at underground diesel has an industrial injection stage 2 cam which requires releifs in the .040 pistons. It has stage 2 so cal heads , 105 billet over a 75 billet , 125 over injectors and dual 85 pumps.... It spools the turbos rather easy and is streetable (really is). I think the cam helps out a bunch up top as it pulls like a moth f'r when the big bro lights

i had to install a new camshaft in lb7, was lookin to go aftermarket but from what i found, it sounds like stock cam is good for lotsa power(600 + hp) but i thought maybe the sound would be different with duration but have heard they mostly just add lift(with ramp angle change)! just my 2 cents

No regrind can accomplish what Im looking for. I need more LSA and you are limited on a regrind. Fuel and turbo is the main avenue for HP but the appropriate camshaft is what makes it more efficient. The picture is much bigger here than most are giving credit for. Keep any information sharing coming.

I'm running the Hamilton pulling grind with an s475 single, valve reliefs, Hamilton springs and stock heads. It lights ultra fast and really shines above 3500 rpm. Haven't done any dyno tuning yet, waiting for dual pumps so I'm not fuel limited at higher rpms. Works great for a DD too. Hardly any lag from a dead stop.

Cams

I run the 8460 SoCal. It's one of the larger cams. I think for the money it's a waste! I'm not talking regrind cam's. I will spend whatever it cost but I haven't seen were there is much power if any. I also thought a cam would have to help but I just have not seen it in these motors.

Just for the record I fill the same way with heads! Not enough power for the money. Very little if any power differance. Spend the money on your turbo and injectors. That will make a power increase.
