im running a comp part # 132-502-12 in an lmm with a 68mm cheetah and a billet s480....

.480 gross valve lift. duration @ .050 209 I 216 E. All i know is at about 4200 this truck sounds like nothing ive ever heard. when the tuning is right this will most likely be the most fun/steetable duramax ive sat in. dont have any before and after comparisons but it runs nice i think.

I'm running the Hamilton pulling grind with an s475 single, valve reliefs, Hamilton springs and stock heads. It lights ultra fast and really shines above 3500 rpm. Haven't done any dyno tuning yet, waiting for dual pumps so I'm not fuel limited at higher rpms. Works great for a DD too. Hardly any lag from a dead stop.

Which cam do you have, the old or new puller profile?

I heard DTS makes a cam that made 100 hp over the biggest SoCal cam. Just what I heard.

I would believe it.

I am thinking about the new Hamilton Tow cam and springs, I am building a driver not a puller or racer but a street truck that I can enjoy and use for work. This makes since in looking to make it more efficient and better throttle response. Boost is just a number its about how well you can use it. You can make 500 HP with a stock charger but it is not living in its map of efficiency but with the cam you may make the same power with 5 or 6 lbs less boost getting you back within the compressor map.

I run a stock cam and mine runs/ lights the turbo/ and pulls HARD over 4,000 just the same as Jeffs truck did with the "big" So cal cam. Save your 1,000 bucks on something better:thumb:

After seeing the power that can be made with a stock cam and heads with just springs neither was ever on my to do list when building mine. If I had much bigger goals I might of thought about it.

I have a challenge. I have 5K that says a DTS cam will not pick my motor up 100 hp. That challenge goes out to SoCal or any cam company. I think Zach at hamilton cams is up the most on camshafts from talking to him. He really trys with different profiles but still NOBODY(yet) can make 100 hp with a cam change. If they tell you that, it's a flat out LIE!!! Sorry guys but without nitrous or a better turbo you will not see that kind of power.

I really should stay out of these treads as it makes me look bad. I just hate to see others profit by not telling the truth. I have wasted a boat load of money playing with the duramax motors/trucks and don't want to see others do the same on things that just don't matter as much as they should. There is far more important areas to gain power that you will see a differance in. Everyone just remember your motor is at peak power for a split second and at average power a LONG time. A flat power curve will win evertime.

OP, IMO, leave the aftermarket cams alone. If you were building an all out race truck it would be different. Same goes for the heads. Too much cost to justify the purchase.

I have most everything now. It will be multipurpose. A thousand plus HP truck capable of doing all of it well. To do that there needs to be a well matched set of parts. I agree with some if the statements here but not that a can won't make a difference. How much? Most of us do not know. Nobody is testing them out enough to know. That is why I posted to get others experiences. Please keep them coming. My plans right now are to spec my own design and see how it works unless someone here says something that changes that.

I agree with Jeff. I dont think I would ever spend the money on one. The only thing I would maybe like to try as far as camshafts go is re-degreeing a stock cam.
