Cab lights are meh... my buddy put them on his truck and I couldn't believe it. Why would anyone drill more holes in a roof to have stuff leak in etc and they don't serve much of a purpose.

Mine came with factory ones. I wish the NBS small ones would work. But I switched then out for recon smoked. Make sure to use a shit load of silicone.

Don't do it. Mine came with the truck new and they leak still 5 sets later and no it's not the windshield thats leaking. Almost didn't buy the truck because of the cab lights now i wish i had not what a pain you can bet my new truck will not have those f#$% things on it. One day i'm going to put a new roof skin on it with NO holes in it LOL

I love the cab lights. It really makes a truck look like a truck. Without them, it would be like a hot chick without titties:D

I agree! Depends on what look you're going for I guess.

I prefer the 5 separate cab lights instead of 3. Clear or smoked. But ultimately I like none best. All personal preference.

To seal it just use black gasket maker. Or the black weatherstripping sealer.

Um, you need to be able to replace bulbs so don't silicone them down.

Question to those who installed cab lights and had problems:

What did you do to seal the metal/paint after drilling the holes? What did you use to seal the light housings to the paint?

Same question to those who did not have any problems. Thanks guys!
I used the seals that came with the recon kit and it leaked like crazy. Using silicone now and it seems to be fixed but the damage was done. I do love how they look though.

I'm trying to remember, but you know how that goes...

Do the factory lights use a replaceable foam-type gasket? I can probably find a set of factory lights & harness at my buddy's wrecking yard for cheap or free. He likes to horse-trade.

I like them and if you like them thats all that matters...

If u dont do the gm 3 piece style for the love of god use gm spacing on 5 seperated lights. Gm is center 3 close and two outboards... Our dodges were even spaced all the way across and i think our fords were too.

My lbz doesnt have them and i want them but i cant make myself drill holes in my roof. But never had an issue with the factory installed units. Well... Accept when some drunk guy forgot to tighten them down and it rained that night... Lost my cluster and radio

I think you guys all need to go back and read my original post...

I didn't ask if you like them, nor do I care if you like them. It's my truck, and I do think they will look good on it. :thumb:

My question is about them sealing or leaking. All experiences positive or negative are welcome. But leave your opinion about what you think looks better in your wallet. ;)

No lights and no sunroofs!:buttkick:

Finally somebody with some sense.

Everybody and their mother has cab lights I think they are hideous and I searched over a year to find a truck without cab lights

:end rant

I don't have any and am very happy with that

Exactly, cab lights just kill the sleek look of a truck

I'm more of an ass man myself :thumb:

I just used the rubber gaskets that came with them and a drop of 3M 4200 on the screw threads. Im kind of a freak about my trucks and I was nervous as hell the drill 18 holes in the roof but I never saw any signs of a leak. They looked killer in smoked...

Did you touch up the paint after drilling?

It's the internet pal relax;) My experience & opinion is they will leak(at some point). If you like the look then go for it, stop being wimp and get to drilling.

Am I to understand then, that the Recons are direct replacements for the factory lights? No additional drilling, etc?

Are they contoured to the roof like the factory lights?

Who wants to post pics of their cab lights? (Stock or aftermarket)
