Well if the clearances are the same, the clutch pack that has more clutches in it may come on slightly quicker than one with less clutches simply because it has more friction area. So it may start "grabbing" with less pressure applied to it. But the difference would be very minimal if any IMO.
Now since I don't really know what the original poster was trying to achieve. He could have also been trying to simply get more clearance in the pack. Which would slow down the apply. Since the piston must travel to the clutch pack before it can engage, more clearance=more time, or "slower apply".
