Think its possible to get the stock exhaust off without a lift? Debating on having it done or doing it myself
As long as you can find a way to fit under the car safely then yes it is, lots of people have done it. I'ts not too hard really.
I recently finished up the exhaust on it, I had a twitch bugging me so I bought the Borla Cat Back and put it on to finish off the exhaust. I was going to do Rawtek as it would've eliminated the little spot where everything necks down but shipping was $120. The Borla was free with Amazon Prime, same 304 stainless, same tips, so i'm happy enough. I may deal with the necked down part someday but I don't think its hurting anything. I may still add a resonator if the wife wants. This thing is about 10 times louder than my ALH straightpipe and louder than my Duramax was too. Sounds a lot like a Subaru boxer with a big turbo and straight pipe. At least all of the Prius's can hear it now when I'm dodging them everywhere they drive.
This chunk of exhaust does have to get cut in half to come out. Theres probably a way to save it but I don't see the point. if you put all of the filters back on the stock muffler does almost nothing.
Yes it's missing the lower piece of the bumper, not sure where it went, been missing for awhile. Tip's look nice though, but they do turn sooty fast, could be that I just like the sound and feeling of a little car's torque rise at 1700RPM walking away from stop n go lights.
Speaking of bumpers, the wife had a run in with a frozen traffic cone this winter......thunderbunny got hurt. Patched it for now and looks good from 10'. Guess I will practice my plastic welding skills this summer fixing it.
I also took some time to put some "Euro" touches on it. The left side glovebox, and the dash compartment (replaces vent). I like storage stuff like that. The american versions didn't get these. Probably put the underseat drawers in too. I really like the one on the dash the most though, best money ever spent. All of this is VW parts too so it fits perfect and doesn't look cobbled. I can't really add any more power to her car without needing a clutch and the 6spd clutches are pricey, plus she doesn't need more anyways. I've never been one to buy much for looks but this car's special.
Wife does here makeup between jobs in the car, been a little busy and haven't detailed it in a bit so excuse the mess.
I was bidding on an edition 35 shifter but lost. I'd like to find the shifter, steering wheel and e-brake. I think they would look nice in this car and kind of complete the half way GLI type job VW did with it. I'd love some Bi-Xenon GLI lights but those are pricey. Proving to be tough to find a steering wheel without paddle shifters as well unless I want to pay $500 to some dude in Mexico.
Edition 35 interior (its a golf and MK6 so it differs, but the steering wheel and such are the same)
Refresher of the TDI Cup interior for those who haven't seen. GLI seats, black trim, billet pedals but kinda blan.
