Few questions about stage 4 vs. stage 5 PPE trans clutches kits.

Im wondering the difference between a stage 4 vs. stage 5? other than the obvious that stage 5 holds more power because it has more clutches but stage 4 is $200 less because you dont need the modded pressure plates and less clutches.

Does the stage 4 run cooler or hotter or same than stage 5?

Does the stage 4 shift smoother or harder or same than stage 5?

is it more time consuming to install stage 5 so that would mean more labor cost to install?

Ive been searching for awhile and cant find much info on the differences.
any info would be greatly appreciated in advance

They use the same pressure spring and transgo shift kit, Stg5 should shift smoother on the 3-4 because of the C2 wave plate (My Stg4 seems to do just fine). Cost should be about the same to install IMO.

Suncoast 1056, oldschool now it seems. The new fad is a Precision ML or a Suncoast 1058 for a stock / lightly modded truck.

I supply the custom built Goerend converter with all my builds. I no longer use Precision Industries converters.

icic. so to answer my original question, any disadvantages to stage 5 over stage 4 performance wise? run hotter or shift harder?
The PPE stage 5 will hold more power because of higher pressure and more clutches. The stage 4 is a generic Alto clutch kit and if you use it you better know what you're doing as it needs adjusting.

wow i just read on the goerend site that their Triple disc converter comes with limited lifetime warranty. now ive never read about any other converter offer that and their about the same price as suncoast and even alil less. must be one hell of converter to offer that kind of warranty.

Whys that mike?

I'm not speaking for MikeL, but there is a thread about the new converter that Mike and Goerend spec'd and Goerend built. Goerend is at the top of the list when it comes to transmissions.

If the stars line up right, my truck is going in July for the full build and the ML-G, heavy duty stator, at Goerend's shop. It'll sit behind a built short block with an S475 single in a regular cab DD. it'll be fun
