Well guys back in April of this year I made the mistake of buying an early 2004 LB7 crew cab Duramax. It had 190k and I paid $16500 in the 8 months I have I owned it I have spent another 4k in repairs. We had a snowstorm here in Maine the day before Thanksgiving and when I went to use the 4wheel drive for the first time I heard a grinding sound. Had it put on a lift and there was a hole in the transfer case. I have been trying to sell this truck for months with no luck. I can't get anyone to even come look at it. I had the price at 14k before this latest incident. a new transfer case is $2500 with a three year warranty, I can get a used one for $1200 with a 30day warranty or buy one from some guy on CL for $500 and roll the dice it fits and works. The one for $500 is out of an 05 LLY will this work on my truck?

I tried dropping the price to 10k as is hoping someone would just take it off my hands as it with no luck. Apparently this truck is worthless. None of the used car dealers will take it in trade and can't get anyone to come look at it. Buying this truck has turned into a nightmare I can't wake of from. Any suggestions other than running it into an oak tree? Thanks Mike

Most people are afraid of a truck with almost 200k. I'm sorry to say it but, unless you find the right person with cash you're pretty much up the creek.

Out of my three choices I assume the $500 one is the best choice. I'm gonna try and get the guy to wait for pymt until I can get it installed and know it works. How many hours labor should I be charged for this swap?

If I didn't fix it I had a guy offer to trade me an early 07 2500 HD extended cab 6 liter with 180k even for my truck as is. Would this be a good trade for me? Or am I crazy to trade diesel for gas? Both truck are totally rust free.

For 7k I can probably get someone up there with cash within a week if you're interested.

Sorry it's been such a rotten experience

Anyone want this truck for 10k? Frame, body panels, rockers & corners are rust free. New in the last eight months, rotors, calipers, pads all 4 wheels, hydro pump, various front end parts, parking brake cables and pads, tow hall switch, horn, 4 new speakers, starter, injectors done at 120k. Truck is located in Old Orchard Beach Maine.

I've repaired my transfer case with some type of steel type bondo..Its a 2-part clean the area real good and sand it...Rub the said item together to mix it and stick it on the case... You have the pump rub issue, refill the transfer case and see if it holds.. I' drove my dmax several hundred miles before i knew it had a hole in it,and all the fluid was gone..By the time i fixed it.

I have an ad up with more pictures in the garage section. I think it's to late to just fix the hole and pour new fluid in. I found a guy on eBay selling new ones for $1350 shipped free. He says they fit 01 to 07. I thought I was told the transfer case was different between the 5 speed and the 6 speed. It it different?

What else is wrong with it besides the T-case? If nothing I don't understand why you wouldn't keep it? Looks like a solid truck.

Because I don't need it. Bought it to pull a toy hauler. Ended up getting a little 18' one that pulls fine with my short box 4.8. Looking to replace Duramax with a C5 vette.
