if you clean the area where it broke, do you see bluing? also, did the break run along the area on the counterweight where they stopped machining for the rod journal?

this really scares me :( i hope im not next in this poll. Had a spun main and reused the crank in the build i hope it lasts cause im not going to be easy on my new motor lol.

I think mine broke because I was hauling a heavy load and my damn electric fans quit working and the engine got hot.. I'm not a happy Flex-a-lite fan owner rite now...:(

I have seen 4-6 broken on the throw before the #2 main and a scatter few more broken in random spots. One truck has seen two engines, a low mile failure on the common throw spot and another at nearly 100k miles, that one broke after #5 main if I remember correctly.

nother LMM down. 576k km on crank. was just in there couple thou ago and put mahle pistons in after an OEM piston cracked. started truck up this morning, bottom end knock. got to work, looked at motor, crank snout was moving around pretty good. on my way home noise gets worse and worse, on my street I romp on it around a corner, get to 1500rpm and kaBOOM! idled the rest of the way home. i just said 3 min early to my father that its a matter of time till the crank snaps. back in i go this weekend.

do you guys see valvetrain interferance on motors with snapped cranks? should I be expecting valve damage as well? it sure doesnt sound pretty!

Why did you continue to drive it after you seen the balancer wobble ? Blocks probably toast now.

I got talking to a customer with Dmax's a few days ago. He and his son are hotshotters for TT companies and drive all over the country and Canada. His 08 LMM (with 276,000 on the clock) had a crank break during a run. It broke right at the 1-2 throw, same as most. :( Stock drivetrain. He had been having injector troubles for a couple weeks beforehand. Was throwing low rail codes. Had the CP3 replaced, which didnt fix the issue, so then the shop did all 8 injectors and no more codes. Not sure if that had anything to do with the crank.

I have cores. this motor had 576k km on it, and was not an easy life before. im really at no loss having to put another block in it. truck got me home, my cores are cheaper then a tow.

injector questionsso

so i am replacing my injectors now got it to start, but has a really bad lope when idelin.... anyone have an idea why?..... and put in standard OEM injectors :confused:
