Looks like I am going to be giving you a call Mike. I was getting ready to check my transmission slippage with EFI. I start to power boost. Got up to about 20 lbs, and let off the brake and my truck went no where. I smelt burning metal right afterward this incident. I could not go forward. I had to drive home in reverse. Any ideas?

Yeah it was a fun drive home. Live and learn. What did they figure out was wrong with the truck.

JC, that freaking sucks...:(

Helpful it didn't damage to much stuff.:( At least its not the engine yet.

you lost your C1 clutch pack, I will bet money

i think it was some of the clutches but not positive. i'm sure some other people will chime in

I was thinking it would be one of the clutches. I thought this tranny would last a lot longer then it did. I am in Denver, so I am not laying down the numbers as those down at sea level.

One thing you could try to see if it is the C1's is using EFILive, command the TCM to lock in 5th. If you feel it engage, it's probably the C1's. Since the C1's are applied in 1-4, but not used for R, 5, or 6, if they are cooked, you would only have 5, 6 & R. Since you had R, the C5's and C3's are functional.

I will be playing with this when I get home from work.

I talked to mike, and he thinks it could be the C1's as well. The problem is my truck is not throwing any DTC. Tonight I am going to be droping the transmission, and will take a peak at the C1's.

Was that an SCIII that was in your truck?

I probably should take my first post back. I used Red Eagle Clutches instead of SC clutches. The transmission shop here said it is the same thing without SC stamped on the clutches. Don't know if that's true or not.

This should sum up the tools needed for the most part. I think there where one or two that I didn't have in that post. Also have a good trans jack.

I just went and purchased a nice 2 ton trans jack from tool zone. I also went and purchased ring pliers.

I just need to unbolt the bell housing from the engine and the whole thing should come right out. That's my project for tomorrow evening.

How hard is it to re-bolt the trans back to the engine block?
