lol thats not where the lock up box makes the difference in. I dont know the correct terminology but if the TCM sees there is too much difference in speed in the engine side of the converter vs the transmission side of the converter when not locked, it wont lock it in. That explination is probably off compared to what its suppose to be but basically, if the TCM doesnt see certain perameters met via the TC with a certain difference between the two sides, you have no lock up. i have no lock up till the top of 3rd gear or even 4th gear sometimes on the race tune due to this (well, before i had the trans refreshed, may be different now). the lock up box makes the converter lock as soon as you hit 2nd gear when your in "automatic" mode no matter if the TCM sees too much difference between the two sides. IMOP, i wouldnt want the TC to lock in 1st gear in a drag race anyhow, the gear is too short and lock up will be very hard on allison internal parts. clear as mud right?
