In the market for a turbo that allows me to tow between 6-12k and still have good racing capabilities. Will be going to twins in the future so keep this in mind. Mods are in my sig and not that knowledgable about turbos yet. Please input what works for you and setup you have. Thx

Henry (Creatures of the nite performance) told me to run the stock turbo till i was able to go to twins and he has setups that work with the stock turbo and some other turbo sounded good to me:)

^ what he said ^

The aftermarket 2.6's (66mm) are good with the factory shift points to the mid 11 second range when using dual fuelers, where the rollbar rule kicks in. They are still very towable with proper tuning. An engine with aftermarket rods is not absolutely necessary, but is recommended.

The other path is nitrous with the stock charger and no dual fuelers, which can yield similar results.

The problem with big singles has to do with actual freeway towing, which on an LBZ is done at ~1800? rpm. Big singles are very lazy in that range and the trans will hunt. You can tow with a GT42 or S475 (3.0"-75mm) if you want to tow in 4th gear. A 3.0" can be used effectively if you are willing to tow at 2200+ rpm when cruising, which is 4th gear. This is how I tow heavy anyways, and nets about 2500rpm at freeway speeds.

Htt 66/71/16 ss housing is a t 3 with the gate built in. You can run the 13 cm housing for alittle better spool up but the 16 will be better for twins. If you run a 66 mm setup I a t4 setup you have no gate and if you want it you will need to add it.

As Pat said towing with a GT4202R can be done but is not fun the same goes for the Gt4094R your screaming in 4th gear. So the next best thing is the stocker with a twin kit or go to a 66 setup billet if wanted then twin off that.

Tell me bout this one. The wheel size 66mm inducer. Would a 68 be to big? Hard to spool with a trailer? Pros / cons?

Any other turbos will work as a single?

Checkout the billet 366 kit that Trent was offering. There's a thread on it here.

Now which will work for me T3 or T4? What are the differences?

T4

Whats the diff first?

T4 has a bigger inlet into the turbine side. Also most bigger turbos are T4, so if you wanted to upgrade later you could reuse the pedestal

I thought big singles were so great that I could run a PBK as a single and and still tow 15k with it everyday in the mountains.

So S366, with the billet wheel. So what about the other addon's? Race cover, can i use my DE or need a new Dp? What about this batmowheel??

OOOOOOOOOOh the batmowheel... It won the florida race... so they have to be the baddest right? Oh wait, that truck wasnt the fastest there... or the 2nd fastest.... Was it the 3rd fastest? Anyways, i would wait for more testing to come out on them, nothing they have shown has proven that big of a gain. We had our local TNT, and one of the cummins boys had upgraded to the batmowheel turbo, he was ready to but his old turbo back on at the end of the day he said. Whats the price difference between the 2?

Aron picked up .2 of a second on his ET by adding a race cover, and then an additional .2 of a second again on his ET with adding the batmowheel in the race.
