Post up your ideas that work to help keep the engine temps down.

I was watching my (aftermarket) gauge and it reads 210 alot. I know thats not that high here, but I would like to do what I can to lower it.

FIY the factory LMM gauge reads 210°F all the time between 185 and 210...

Basically I have noticed my fan running a lot lately....

BTW, theres no real good area for this in the current tech titles...

I know, but it seems like no matter what every thread turns into this. Then for josh to tell me to get over myself, WTF is that, all I said was how simple it was, just move on but I guess he has a chip on his shoulder or something. as for as where I posted it, the only other place would be to pos tin the dmax hard parts area but its really not the area for that. The jokes go in the comedy club/funny zone. I thought this said "duramax chit chat" but I guess I cant read. You know just general chit chat about what we can do to lower ECT's. Any way, this thread is officially derailed in less than 10 minutes...

Back on topic.... My LBZ doesn't run nearly that high, even in 100 degree weather towing (on flat ground) it likes about 195 - 200 towing 13k, and empty running 70 - 80 mph in the same weather it like from 185 - 192ish.

I wonder if there's a way for you to replace the LMM thermostat from a LBZ one, It'd be nice to see if they're different part numbers.

Good Idea, I am going to look at the temps of the thermostats tomorrow as I have a spare set. Maybe pick up some water wetter.

I believe a little dish soap will do the same thing as water wetter, breaks the surface tension of the water.

Mike, I'm sorry I offended you, but the way I read your third post, it seemed like you were being a little snippy. I just responded in the same tone as it seemed you responded to me. Like Jason, I thought you were mocking the LMM thermostat thread too. I apologize for the problem.

Now that that is out of the way, I went and looked at some logs from my dad's LMM. After beating on it for about 30 minutes doing several WOT runs up to 80 or so, I saw the temperature getting up to 210 or a little over, but it doesn't take long for it to cool back down to the 195 area. I would have to guess a new, lower temp thermostat or maybe replacing the factory fan with an electric fan that can be turned on at a lower temperature would in keeping the temps from climbing.

They all look to be the same 180 and 185
