What kind of power are you making. I was thinking of getting the Ball Bearing 72 to start with like you have listed there. Did you ever run the 72mm Comp Turbo as a single? Any Numbers? How does it compare to other chargers?
And what do you mean by captain lag? I thought with the setup it should spool decently? But what do I know?
Thanks!

Unfortunately my whole setup is new and in the tuning stage and I have little number info on it right now. I never ran the 72 as a single. I went straight from a HTT s366 to this compound setup. I can tell you that that they are very easy to swap parts on and customer service is great with Comp Turbo for what I delt with.

And it's nickname is captain lag because I'm above a mile in elevation and my converter is WAY too tight to spool it correctly haha. 1800 stall does not work at all.

The difference in fuel econ savings between a journal and ball bearing will be so small it will fall within the standard deviation and not be seen....
If you do lots of highway driving you will want something with as lose as an AR that will provide the engine with enough air to maintain a good fuel to air. City driving will call for a tighter AR. But again, you are talking tiny gains so as long as you go with a normal DD turbo it won't make a difference

I don't think the turbo should be looked at for a "main contributor" to fuel mileage. Injectors, motor setup, and tuning will play much much bigger roll than the turbos will at cruise.

Unless your running an ungodly sized turbo or a huge a/r, I can't see it varying mileage much compared to so much bigger variables.

FWIW I got better highway MPG in my LBZ when I put the single 66 on and it could cruise at 4-5psi compared to 8-10 the stock turbo would.

There are so many variables you can't say for sure it was the turbo. I would think having the AR a little bit loser over stock might help a little bit. The problem is there are so many variables that you really can't tell unless you look long term (over 20K miles with the same driving habits) or in a very controlled test. a 5mph wind change will do more for MPG changes than you think...
