I told some of you guys I would post a pic of the truck when i got the front clip/core out. Well here it is! It took a little more than I thought... With all the wires and engineered routing of same it's like a nuclear reactor under the hood! The bed was a piece of cake. I'll have the motor out this Saturday, earlier if i can skate outta work for a day, and off to the machine shop. FYI! Not everybody has a torque plate for a 6.6 diesel.

All kinds of room for improvements in terms of space and weight savings.

Intimidating yes, exciting... YES.

Actually it's not as bad as i say. It's the routing of the wires, main trunk harness has a single wire (starter) that runs down and under the front of the motor, when it turns the corner parallel to the oil pan it sucks up tight to the block and is coupled with 2 cooler lines, starter/battery and a couple other things.... anyway it's just a rats nest. It'll come together, just in case i took 20-30 hi def pict's, don't think I'll need 'em but better safe than sorry. It's been a fews years since i have done this.

OT-Did you know that we have a 1.25" coolant line running right under the driver exhaust! It was late but that's what i memmer.

When i reassemble I'll make it more electrically modular.

WOW, Looks like you got your hands full

no kidding... :baby:when i got the core support out of her... and looked at the harness' i was thinking.... I better get a schematic!

so what's the goal of this project?

SCARY FAST?

I am not a big numbers guy, maybe 1000 + HP, who knows, to early to tell.

At this point i think I'd be happy to get 850 to the ground.

Compounds, Injectors, Rods, Pistons, linked...:barf: And a slew of custom fab:secret::secret:.

no kidding, it'll double the cost of the blasted truck, I bought used BTW.

Can you imagine the bruised ego of say an AMG Benzer 63? He paid 150-160k.... M-5 105k.

I swear I'll keep the A/C and cruise control!

Keep the thread going with pics as you go. I know I'll be following it. Good luck with the project, can't wait to see it in person. :D

Yea... building stocker from original truck.

I was so bummed to be unable to find a core. Well... i had one 45 minutes North of me early on, get this... $2500, out of a LLY, 43k miles. I blew it, plain and simple! I had heard that a decent core goes for 900-1000 so i passed. After that botch and the weeks passed, I found one in Florida for 3k + shipping (duramaxin14). Nobody else would break loose with one!!

I had feelers out with 3 machine shops all working on DMAX, 3 prominent builder/modders and zilcho in almost 2 months. Dude, If you find one snag it, they are tough to find at a fair price, nearby and ready for machining. Otherwise you gotta have a buddy who has a buddy who knows somebody important IMO.

Ok! latest update.

Heads have been ported (SoCal 2's) and should be done in a few days. Need to get with Nathan and determine how much boost the compounds are going to operate at and adjust compression accordingly. My feeling in SoCal weather and temps that it'll be in the 15-15.5 range, I don't wanna smoke to much when cold.

P, good reason to call!

Pistons will prolly be Mahle forged...rollin' the dice? Rods are billet.
