You have to drill the holes right? I guess obviously you would have to mount it a bit lower for lmm's and their top post batteries

Yes, holes have to be drilled.

Not sure if the vans use it or not. I think it's original purpose was for the third battery on the military Silverados. I cut and spliced more cable onto the stock cables.

It looks like you could probably see the battery box from the side if you were looking? Especially on a lifted truck? Thanks for the pics.

The third pic is what it looks like from the side. I don't think it's really noticeable on my truck at stock height with the steps on it, but it might be more so on a lifted truck.

I fugured it would have a PN as well. I asked my friend that works in the parts deparment to find it for me and get me a price but he never did. Maybe its time for some phone calls

If you move it you are supposed to but just tell them is was a factory option installed by the dealer

The truck came with 3 bats and you took one out haha

Not really. The whole box drops down. If I recall correctly, there are three bolts/nuts. Loosen two and remove one and the whole box can be set on the ground or whatever.

GM makes the tray, but I don't know the part number. It's been posted a few times. A search will probably turn it up. The strap is a ratchet strap that is holding my transmission since the engine is out of the truck.
