I sent Ben a email at 7:25 am this morning and got a reply at 9:10. 9:44 I replied back answering his questions and got nothing. 2:17pm I sent another email saying don't forget about me and that was it. I don't understand this guy.

I have been having the same issue with him on a Smarturn module of his. He sent me a brand new one after the unused one I bought off another member didn't work. Now this new one, that he supposedly tested on his own truck, doesn't work either. It took a month for him to send me the new one after he told me he would. When he does reply he gives me the swamped excuse even though I see him logged on here almost every day. I will PM him while he is on and he never replies. It's pretty obvious he cares nothing about customer service.

I find it aggravating to spend 400 on something for it to not work. And to top it off there is next to no customer service. I'm trying to be cool about it but i have better places to waste money...

Word. It took him 3 months of me trying to contact him to get my lockup box replaced. Literally would just call him over and over when I got bored. Atleast 30 attempts via phone, 5 by pm, and another 5 by email. FINALLY contacted me back when I quoted a post of his and stated "so you have time to post on this forum but can't address me?"

It's a shame it takes Internet humiliation to get any kind of response from Ben...

I see theses threads way to often, just imagine all those who don't post...

I had good luck with ben on my purchase from him. Do the vendors who sell his products have better luck or the same issues ?

It's pretty apparent he doesn't care about repeat customers. He has a couple other things I wouldn't mind having, but that's damn sure not happening now.

New boxes are already on the way to the 3 guys who are apparently having problems with them.

good luck. once again, hes fallin off the customer service wagon....

James, kind of like how you still have 2 of my boxes that you never sent back? Then, I gave you a full refund, and here you are throwing me under the bus again. For all I know, you now have 2 free boxes that work fine...

If I had a nickle for every time someone demanded that I send a replacement box without them sending the "BROKEN" one back first, I wouldnt have to work anymore.

I cant even tell you how many times ive sent people replacement boxes because they swear up and down that everything is installed properly, wired up correctly, etc. I send them a new box and never hear anything back. Then finally months later Ill get a random box back in the mail. I plug it in my truck and wouldnt you know it, the damn thing works just fine 9 out of 10 times.

Its amazing how many HOURS and hours Ive spent on the phone with people who cant even follow simple instructions. I spend 3 hours on the phone with people who cant get the thing to work, only to find out after the 3 hour conversation, that they tapped the BLUE wire into the YELLOW wire at the accelerator pedal (not only do I tell you which wire to tap into, I even make my wiring harnesses color coded with the factory colors!!!)

And then everyone complains that I never answer the phone.....because the line is tied up with tech support questions for hours at a time.

That sounds dangerous

Ben you've got to be kidding me with this comment.

Sounds dangerous? Kind of like the fleece and DHD lockup controllers that dont even have a brake pedal/safety override to begin with??????

And second of all, congratulations, you are my favorite type of person on the internet......one who has never even done two cents worth of business with me, never met me, never talked to me....yet slams me the hardest online.

Sorry that's just the same replys I got when by manufactures when I built my lockup controller. The same type some are making now. I shouldn't have said that, you are right.

Look at my log on times. I have been absent on the forums recently because I have been so busy.

Lets back up a minute with your case.

You bought a 4-year old SmartTurn module used from someone on the forums here. You didnt even buy it new from me. The warranty on the modules is 1-year...thats clearly marked in writing.

Yes, it took me forever to send you a new one...but when I am going out of my way above and beyond what is expected (I could have so easily told you to get lost, because the module is 4 years old, and you didnt buy it from me), I have to shuffle priorities around as to which projects/tasks get completed first. I sent you a brand new latest-version module FOR FREE. I didnt even charge you shipping or anything.

I am holding NO money of yours.

I apologize for taking so long...that is my fault...but you have to tell people the whole story here.

New product developments, phone calls, running the business is all something that has to be done by myself. Its impossible for me to have someone else answer the phones and handle tech questions, when I am the one who designed the part in the first place, and really the only one who can diagnose issues.

Im not sure how many of you guys in your mid 20's work regular 9-5's versus owning/running businesses, but there are difficulties here that are hard to grasp...particularly with this type of R&D business. Very different than someone who has a landscaping business, general tradeswork (plumbing, electrical, etc), etc etc etc.

My new DSP-5 switches that are coming out in the next week or so, I have literally hundreds and hundreds of hours of R&D into those. Had to teach myself Solidworks, had to learn about ABS injection molding characteristics/details, etc. I probably have over $10k invested in these things between time and molds and I havent sold a single one yet. If anyone knows about injection molding and designing a new product from scratch, it is a very long and expensive process!

Im not making excuses, but it does get difficult sometimes doing it all. :)

Lots of you guys are friends with me on Facebook and whatnot. Am I constantly posting up screwing-off pictures and otherwise showing that im putting no effort in here and otherwise am a lazy SOB? I havent been on the forums even a fraction as much as I used to be.

Standalone harnesses have taken up a large part of my time too here. I have almost 10 going at once right now...enough to make me go nutty sometimes!

Yes you did. And I did tell the story in my other thread. All I was asking for was a little help so maybe I could figure the problem out. But when it takes you weeks to reply to emails and never answering the phone. I even left you my number several times to be able to call me at your convenience, but that hasn't happened either. I know you were on vacation also. I am talking about several weeks ago when you weren't and you were logging on almost every day. You could have told me to get lost and I appreciate you helping me out, but now I have 2 modules that aren't working. I will send both of them back to you Friday when I get home.
