like the title says, if I pull off my upper and lower valve covers, can I reuse the gaskets, possibly with a little silicone? or do I need to buy new?
while on the subject of valve covers. I wanted to swap out my valve cover bolts for the ARP stainless, but they are $175. any better options out there?
They are wxpensive but look really good.
well I went ahead an ordered the ARP stainless bolt kit. came last night and it sure does look pretty.
my plans for the truck next week:
check/set valves
installed powdercoated valve covers
polish fuel lines
oh ya, and head studs. gonna bite the bullet and attempt to do em one at a time.
Hopefully I can get the above done in 3-4 days.
How are you planning on polishing the fuel lines? I thought about doing that but figured if I go through the galvanized coating then I'd have to go all the way down to raw metal, and that's going to corrode pretty quickly.
I have a bench mount buffer I was hoping to buff them out with. haven't really looked at them much thought. I could always powdercoat them chrome too. but afraid it would just chip off
I disagree. I say adjust them every time you're in there. Probably runs a bit quieter now?
