Are LBZ rods "proven" to hold up in mild engine builds?

Don't do it Sean.
I had the same thought in my head for about 24 hours, then I snapped back into reality and realized 700rwhp is nowhere near enough. :D

700 is enough for me. im not big into racing i just like being fast. the question is will they last at 700rwhp. and i guess the answer is no lol

its more like peice of mind. they probably could last but the first 6 months you will be runnin it hard cause of all the new found power :D. so why not put something in you dont have to worry about? 700 is like a borderline with lbz rods.

yeah i got some prices and carillos are worth the money. looks like i can build a good long block for a decent price then just swap parts when the time comes

well the last thing i want is to have to build a motor every 20,000 miles. thats why i say 700hp. seems a decently built motor could live with 700hp for quite a while

I was just trying to convey that they will last much longer than the lbz rods with how he will liekly put them to use.

i really dont abuse my truck much anymore. when i got my first tuner i put my poor truck through hell every single time i got in it i was WOT every minutes. But now i just put around on my 3rd tune that MIGHT be 450hp at the most. i just like having the power on tap in case i need it to shut someone up.

But after sleeping on it and hearing from everybody, the piece of mind alone from having good rods is worth the money because im a very paranoid person already.

Yes, the rods themselves will last. I've even seen one window a block and stay straight.

I find that hard to believe. Must have been a fluke or flaw in the metal...because 99 times out of 100, stock duramax rods will bend (and give 'warning' in the way of smoke at idle, low compression in that cylinder etc) wayyy before they actually break.

I'm not referring to stock rods.

If your going to do it on a budget, why not just buy a good short block and just do a rod swap on it and have LLY pistons put in.

Thought this was budget? A full on built short block wouldn't really be budget. But a good short block for ~$900 pluse ~$2500. then just head stud it and put it back together.

You left out the balancing new bearings the parts that make it last lol
