I'm digging this up again for any possible new info.

It will be twin turbo. I have pictures. talk is 1000lb tq. More talk is 8 speed Allison.

I heard the same rumor on another forum. Guess the rumor was wrong about the twins according to hntngkd.

I wish i could show you guys what i work on daily. The 2017 dmaxs are pretty badass engines. Lots of things have changed

My biggest question is; will the motor be built in house by GM or is it still a joint venture Isuzu/GM? Also I heard they're doing away with urea?

I was the one wrong on the twin setup. Someone showed me a picture and I forgot that I had seen that 4 years ago.:D

I saw that too Mike, I believe it was a test engine GM used back in 2010 or so? I'm sure they scrapped the idea of twins due to the fact they can build a great single that more than gets the job done.

They actually had the twin motor in some trucks Landon. My contact at Allison told me he drove a twin truck for a couple of months while testing the trans. He said it did not make much power and it felt like the engine and trans were divorced from each other.
In fact, the beta transmission I bought before the trucks introduction was THE trans behind the twin motor he drove.

Now that you mentioned it being underpowered, I remember you commenting on the conversation you had with your contact.

It wasn't just you, the original rumor I heard was the same as what you said, twinned and 1000 tq stock until hntngkd debunked it.

There was a thread about this on DF at the beginning of 2014 which has now been removed (or at least I can't find it) that stated the same thing. The guy who started the thread was determined to have people believe him but everyone seemed to brush him off as a troll instigating.
