I've never heard of such thing as driving with no plate and not getting in trouble. Mass is somewhat strict on certain things. You have 7 days to get an inspection sticker. License plates are needed the day you purchase the vehicle to drive. If your truck has a lift or dark window tints, you'll have a really hard time finding an inspection station to pass you. Illegal tints has to come off by you can find someone to pass a truck with a lift. If you get caught by the state police with illegal tints, they'll write you a $350 ticket. State police don't mess around with illegal tints, they'll pull you over right away the minute they see an illegal tint.

Really? No need for this kind of statement. He was asking about the law in MA and you respond with an attack on him as being an 'idiot'.

If I were you i would, just pay the ticket and move forward. I suppose you could go to court and talk to the judge about it but it will be during business hours which means you will have to take off work. Assuming you don't get the the ticket dismissed you will still have to pay the ticket PLUS miss a couple hours of work.

And now a days everything gets video tapped otherwise they would still be getting away with it . I have no use for the Police . And you sound like a racist pig . You more than likely are .otherwise you wouldn't have made a comment like that. Who even mentioned Black ? Talk about a dumbass !

You are ignorant, like the cop that pulled me over, plain and simple. There are a lot of states that you are allowed to drive a new purchase vehicle WITHOUT plates (some up to 30 days) with proper paperwork, which I had. Do yourself a favor and do a little research before posting, otherwise go join the duramax Facebook forums, you'd fit right in.

I'd actually like to see what states allow you to drive a vehicle without a plate.

Feel free to look it up, even California allowed 6 months without plates (now 3). Steve Jobs traded his leases every 6 months so he never bared a plate.

Your obviously a democratic leftist, you immediately threw a racist card. You don't know me from Adam, I said what I did bc you are spewing anti police retoric that the BLM movement is famous for. If you don't like the association then rethink your stance on the matter. As for the dumbass statement maybe you should go check out a mirror...;)

PA if vehicle is purchased out of state. You have 15 days to register and pay the taxes. We drove our BMW around for a solid week with no tags after the vehicle was purchased in Nebraska. Got pulled over by a local, showed the officer the paperwork and we were on our way.

what really sucks in Mass,,I live here,,is the police have this camera reading system. Itcan scan 200 plates a second and give almost instant infractions to the owner of the plate.
You can see the 2 add on light looking things on the back of some of the cars.
Hell they'll pull you over here if your plate is wore out.
Not fond of most of the police in this state, good luck w/ your case,I feel for you.

I'm asking you cause you say you have done the research.

You must have a temp plate or registration in ca. There is no driving around for 3-6 months without a plate in commiefornia ;)

Nothing in pa shows that

State laws also agree. You have 10 days to go through inspection, that's it

Our DMV website is not very informative. Lol
I did it and I didn't get fined or impounded. You have a bill of sale that serves as registration until you get a plate. We drove around with a dealership advertising plate on the back. It had a paper temp tag from Nebraska in the back window that was a transit tag.

I got ya Chris but the laws state right there they will issue you a plate on the spot soon as registration is done. Your temp tag from Nebraska may have been enough for the officer. Guys do that here with temp plates in the back window and have the dealer advertising plate in the holder.

This still doesn't make it ok to drive around without any kind of plate/temp plate.

What I'm looking at here is bob is getting mad and trying to pass blame on word of mouth from an officer or what other people have told him but didn't do the homework him self on the law. He got caught and has to fight or pay but wants to place blame else where. The way I look at this is "cover your own ass". Have the law on hand and present it to the officer or to the court if indeed the officer that towed the truck is in the wrong. Sadly, you can't take word of mouth to court or to an officer and expect it to get you out of anything

You can go to Michigan DMV and get a paper temp plate which I believe is good for 30 days (might be longer). Ive done this several times in the past. Cost was minimal.

Jed, why didnt you just put the plate from your old truck on the new one until you were able to get to DMV?

As for the argument going on about opinions on police, some are out of control on a power trip, others are good people doing a good job.....just the same as every other occupation in this country.

Just wow. If a police pulls you over, that means you did something wrong or something is wrong with your vehicle without your knowledge. It's their job to make sure everything is in ordinance for yours and everyone's safety. If you're one of those F*** the police guys, you're an idiot and you cause troubles that endanger yours and everyone's safety.

Sure, not every cop is a honest cop but most of them are. Some of them may be a dick and that is people who gives them a hard time made them like that. You'd be surprised how easy it can be to turn an angry police officer to a calm officer by listening to them and not talking back to them. There's a saying for that, " Treat others the same way as you want to be treated".

I would have gotten a temp plate but Mass doesn't offer them...I also thought it was a misdemeanor to run non matching plates? Either way I know I should have done some more homework on this...my whole point was that the cop gave me a citation and tow, and I'm sure other cops would understand my "interpretation" and just tell me to drive it home and leave it till it gets sorted out, which I would have done.
