There are legitimate reasons to stop someone....running without a plate, new purchase or otherwise is one of those. In your situation, the cop was within the law writing a citation.....was it the right thing to do considering you were documented for everything except a plate?? That's discretionary....some cops will let it slide, others have a monthly figure to meet.....he hopefully met his. It sucks but that's how the dice roll....

I've had to recite law to an NHP who didn't know vehicle codes in Clark County (Vegas). Claimed he was "pretty sure" my exhaust was illegal.... I showed him otherwise, he still wrote me a citation. I went to court, proved he was wrong to the judge, he agreed with me and threw it out. I was pissed because even though I showed proof of legality, I still wasted 3 hours of my time because some dickweed of cop wanted to cite me for a bullshit reason.

I don't fault all cops for this, I understand they have a job to do, just like any of us. There's just certain officers who have an axe to grind, and we, as John Q Public, get to pay the price for their angst.

In Bob's case, a little discretion on the officers part would have been nice,....he chose to go a different route. That attitude is f**ked up but it's the world we live in. He wasn't a liability with his documentation, but a warning to get it home and park it would have sufficed.

It's easy to see why people can become jaded against certain PO's actions.

Well said, 100% agree. I understand it's their job to follow and enforce laws...BUT, its also their human responsibility to remember to use discretion. I know it could be worse, obviously. I personally couldn't live with myself if I were a cop and pulled shit like this on law abiding citizens who tried to do the right thing.

WOW, so impound was not necessary? Just a fine? please elaborate!

I could see a an impound for a second offense 90/9/B with a $1000.00 fine, appears these were enacted (10/23/2013) to remove repeat offenders vehicles off the road. In your case you had all the proper documentation to prove your "intent" with the vehicle and proof of ownership, bill of sale, insurance etc. The officer could have let you off but made a judgment call to impound and more than likely not the correct one based on your side of the story.

The officers use the simplest statutes and in some cases they are extreme statutes to justify or cover their ass. They can but not always overcharge you and let the courts decide what you're ultimately responsible for.

I was pulled over on the freeway about 2 years ago, I was 20mph over the speed limit which puts that particular ticket in the criminal territory. The officer could have without overcharging me impounded my truck without question. I was fortunate that day which the officer politely reminded of and dropped the citation 5 mph and sent me on my happy ass way. I do recall that I was waiting in the truck for quite some time while he was in his car, more than likely running a complete history of my record "to impound or not to impound that is the question for me to decide...."

Just had to emphasize how I felt about this particular "dickeweed":D ...

I've broken the law a number of times(that shall remain unmentioned) and I deserved most of the citations I've received. There's been a few that were complete bullshit and got thrown out court for that very reason. Back to cops making up their own reasons for citations that do nothing but waste our time ....those are the PO's that get me fired up.

DUDE, just STFU and go back to whatever state you came from. A "Hall Monitor" cop shot one of the Boston bombers and another "Hall Monitor" cop was assassinated before he was able to "draw his gun for the first time ever". You're an ignorant moron who needs to be educated by some more "hall monitor" cops. Luckily for you I have a bunch of friends that work in those "hall monitor" towns and are willing to educate you when you enter their jurisdiction.

Nothing agitates me more than people like you that move to the Northeast from bum**** and have absolutely no clue about reality or your surroundings. You people from out west come here with a sense of entitlement and ignorance and feel that laws don't apply to you and the police are your own indentured servants. The amount of liability that the officer would've opened himself up to by "letting you go" would end his career if something happened. He did the right thing and you're a moron.

I don't know who the F*ck you think you are but why don't you take a dose of your own medicine and Shut the F*ck Up... This has to be the single biggest Douche bag thing I have read on here in a while, Congrats pal...
