Sorry i read more and saw what town, if thats waltham towing i can give my old man a call, knows the owner use to work with him back in the day he might be able to take care of you
When I bought my motorhome I drove it from Alabama to Texas without any type of plate. The old man pulled his plates off and said it was state law if you sold a vehicle. Don't know if that was true but I insured it and drove home,never got pulled over and had a state trooper behind me once or twice. Guess they figured it was some old guy. Needless to say I didn't like not having plates. Good luck
Arizona when it is a private party sale the owner has the option of keeping the plate or letting it go with the vehicle, if you sell without the plate the owner has to do one of 2 things. Obtain a temporary permit online or take the notarized title to the MVD and obtain a plate that day to operate vehicle on the road. Any licensed automotive sales company is required to supply a temporary plate.
Yeah truck will definitely be towed out of there before end of the night to avoid extra storage fees. We will see what happens...

Jed, it is untrue that you have 10 day grace period on the registration. You have 7 days to get a state inspection. As being a recent transplant though, you can appeal the citation and the judge may sympathize with you. If the guy is being a douche then he may just say that you should've done better homework. Who knows. Sorry for the run of bad luck, but your best answer and back up will best come from a lawyer and not another police officer.
That is BS. How do you buy a vehicle in a state and get it impounded in that same state. Was it from a dealer? I would make them cover the tickets and get the truck out of impound. If it was private I would get after the seller a little. In NE and TX both you have vehicles with no plates. In NE IIRC you have 30 days to plate them and the seller took the old ones. As a last resort I would see if the county would drop the charges since it was a honest mistake.
Nice looking truck :thumb: I would suggest just chalking it up to one of those "Life Lessons", Pay your fines and move past it. It sucks (Ive Been there) but at the end of the day your fighting a loosing battle IMO…
Great point, now everyone, including myself, knows....either way still registering in WY, so FUMASS :roflmao: Worst thing is when i spoke to the mass DMV lady she said I did everything right, but I needed to put my old non matching, expired, illegal plates on the new truck :WTF2:and she said she can not believe they impounded the truck and gave me a ticket...this is the DMV SAYING THIS! (sorry RMV mass)
Wyoming paperwork should be all complete by next wed-friday and ill be back on the road! Hopefully for longer than 30 hours...

Um still confused about this myself, see my comment above...Ive concluded, it's a proven fact at this point, no one in Mass knows the laws. 3 individual people that NEED to know the law gave 3 differing answers...Its like when Im telling a client I know what I am doing at work when I have no f*cking clue, I just make up a bunch of Bullshit they have to buy. Only difference I am not actively seeking out harmless victims to vomit my bullsh*t.
It's the government, fight them every step of the way. There are too many laws that contradict themselves, and even gray areas that are a cops discretion ( I am not stating my opinion to whether you were in the right or wrong). I would spend double the money paying a lawyer to get me out of a bs fine just so the state doesn't get that money, but that's just the kind of ahole I am

DITTO, I still don't know if I was REALLY in the wrong (and whom I was in the wrong to, and according to whom?
), but that's neither here nor there at this point. If I could afford a lawyer I would...(kinda tapped out after this purchase haha)
Man that sucks. I would probably go to traffic court and fight it. I'm not much for rolling over and taking it in the azz if it's not warranted. Win or not they would know what I thought.

1st. Why oh why did you leave wyoming...it's so much simpler out here...2nd damn that's a nice truck...3rd I'd fight it personally and at least see if they can drop the tow bill. Tell them you want to see the law in writing where it says you can or can't do that. I'd think you'd be able to find that info at a public library or even the interweb

I use to think the same way ^^ and still do to a extent, But after spending literally 10's of thousand's of dollars fighting traffic sh!t in court I pick my battles these days. I currently have 9 vehicles on the road and DMV and DOT are constantly throwing me curve balls that cost me money but more importantly piss me off when they are unjustified (IMO).. But at the end of the day NYS has a lot of time and money to burn and I do not, better off to suck it up and move on (In most cases).. Anyone ever here the song "I fought the law and the law one"? Well theres some meaning and truth to that song from my experience lol :hug:
I feel you but I fight to the death lol, character flaw I guess. I also rarely have run-ins with the law. I know most of the LEO's in Fairbanks thanks to the gym, most are decent guys. I highly doubt any of them would give me a ticket unless I left them no choice

Not sure how old you are but I'm 54 , and I can tell you there is 1 thing that's universal from state to state . 95% of cops are *****s . TX included . They are like Barny Phief wanting to use their 1 bullet . They abuse their authority and interpret and twist the law to do what the F----they want to do. They are worse than car salesman and lawyers . Can you tell I hate cops . I too am a law abiding citizen , I don't even drink . I'm forever getting pulled over for the lamest stupidest shit you can imagine . I read your thread and got fired up . Guy could easily have cut you a break and explained the law to you . The majority of all them assholes are worthless pieces of Sh--. I feel all your pain Bro . Good luck with your situation .

Everyone hates a cop untill they need one. Personally, I've had some bad but mostly good expirences with law enforcement. I've learned typically they only come down hard on those being stupid and putting others at risk or if you legitimately are doing wrong. Dont perpetuate the retoric that the media spews forth, frankly I thought the people on this board were smarter than that...
