Just got back into town. I did order a pump, but I am not sure when I'm gonna get it on.

I have to order another set of idler and pitman arms, and possibly uca's again. So I'm gonna hold off on a box for now.

I have to insulate my ceiling and floor this week as the original owner had the fascia blocked and only did 8", so that took a big chunk of change and I'm doing myself going through a 3x3 square so it's gonna take a minute or two.

Rent the blower machine with the long hose, call a couple of buddies and pay them in beer to feed the machine while you drag the hose around and blow it everywhere. I have even seen some place loan the machine for free if you buy X about of the insulation from them.

Of course that is down here in Texas.

What fluid is everyone running? I started using AW32 hydro oil a few years ago in all my trucks including the wife's 07 Tahoe. They all steer better but most likely due to high mileage on the old fluid. The biggest thing I have noticed is how consistent the steering effort is from a cold 8f start to 95f summer heat.

My 06 3500 was noisy when warm before I flushed it but now it has been quiet.

Broken shafts are usually from high rpms and hitting the steering on its stops.
Just bought said HYD oil.. comes up as ISO32 R&O oil and labeled as 10W blend
Been using synthetic ATF

R&O is just hyd oil with rust and oxidation inhibitors. The AW32 is an R&O with anti wear additives like zinc. I would get the AW32.

Yes it is a 10wt oil, most ATF is around 7.5wt

I bought a 5 gallon pail of AW32 at O'Reilly for about 35.00.

It was blue devil, got it at autozone. I only used half the bottle and my box quit leaking. I used the other half when I flushed it last month.
Perfect. Thanks for getting back to me, I'll have to try and pick some up tomorrow and give her a whirl. Sure would be nice to get some more life out it

The HYD oil definetly makes a difference for the better, easier/quicker steering and less pedal pressure/travel to stop the truck. I'm loaded for Charlotte NC to deliver Monday from Ohio

I forgot about the difference in the trucks with hydroboost, my 98 still feels like a new truck.

I have a pretty large supply of aw32 at the rig, I was gonna try it for shits and giggles, I'm gonna give it a go when I go back in a week and a half.
Interested in feedback from both of you on the aw32 hydraulic oil. My power steering needs a flush so no time like the present to try something better

Picked up some of the blue devil last night. This morning sucked out about 4-6oz. And dumped half bottle in. Truck needs a bath something awful then I'll be able to tell if it stopped. I'll keep ya posted. Must be serious stuff as it come with a warranty. Thanks for the help Reger

Update.
Still no leaks, but........flushed system with AW32 hyd oil, worked good, its 84 today and mother****er won't steer, I'm headed to work so I dumped a concoction of shit in it and am making tracks.

So we'll see what that ugly ass overpriced PSC pump does when I get back in.

I wonder if it's the fluid you're using.. I can't tell you the last time I put a ps pump on a dmax. Let alone had issues with it.. plenty of trucks with big wheels and tires..

Always ran valvoline up until the hydraulic oil.

Heat seems to be my issue. All these damn hills working that engine at lower speeds heat soaks it and kills them. I put a cooler on but it's not big enough, I have another cooler mounted (half ton trans cooler) but I haven't plumbed it up yet.
