well after selling my 71 sb a few years ago i've been dying to get back into one. i was on another forum this morning and saw a sweet (to me anyway) 4wd 2500 V6 up for sale.

so after a little bidding war in the final seconds i am now the proud owner of a 4wd factory 4sp V6 68 GMC w/ 20k orig miles!!

i've been wanting something 4wd for a while and this is perfect for me. it runs, drives and stops and even has the factory tach cluster!!

plans right now are just to get it road worthy. it needs rockers and floor pans but that's no big deal. i plan on lifting it another 4-6" or so and running some 37s. i'm up in the air about leaving the flatbed on it though.

i know like i need another project :joker:
anyway here are some pics. let me know what you guys think.

Should be a 305. That was my dads favorite generation he had 2 of them he had to sell when he got rid of his big shop. Should of never done it, but hindsight is 20/20.

They even had a V-12 version. Ran two distributors. Haven't seen one in person. Would be cool to hear w/staight dual exhaust.

Wow! thats just a GMC "702" V-12 cut in half basicaly? The 702's are cool!

Thats the case, keep that V-6 Kyle! Cause the more odd = the better!

oh i'm keeping the V6 no doubt:thumb:. hell it's only got 20k on it, i'd be retarded to take it out. from what i hear they are torque monsters too.

nice. thats my favorite body style. I ahd a 71 chevy as my first truck. good luck with it. should be a nice project. I might possibly know where theres a hood if you cant find one. not 100% sure if its still around.

I thought they had 307's and later they came out with the 305?? You oughta find a 72 hood, it's like the classic HD hoods.... Look wayy better IMO

You better put an auxillary fuel tank on it cause there damn thirsty and slower than hell too.

I had a 1960? GMC with the V6 in it. Yup, about 12mpg and gutless as hell. The "three on the tree" trans wasn't helping much either. Think it also had 16.5" wheels with split rims, and the gas tank was behind the seat.

There was more engineering no-no's than any other vehicle I ever owned. :D

Def. my favorite gen. of GM trucks! If you aren't already a member, I highly recommend you get on 67-72chevytrucks.com It's a huge site (comparable to like DieselPlace in size I'd say) and lots of good info!

Should be a real nice truck!

Awesome project...I love the 67-72 trucks. Sold my frame-off resto'd 71 K20 :(, still have a 72 K5 4spd Blazer though...my Pap still has his 71 C20 longbed stepside too.

I have three hoods iirc, all 69-72 though.
