Wow this is confusing me mors and more. Tryin to decide.which way to go for my build and now im confused. Whats fingers do to make his different? So lb7s cut and coated are not for 750-800hp+? Cause thats what im shootin for. Not tryin to derail veetee. Im in same boat as u.
There are lots of trucks running cut LB7/LLY pistons making big power and some fail but them are the ones that you hear about not the ones that hold up. I personally know of a couple trucks that make a legit 1k hp and they have lasted in those trucks.

Ive run decked, delipped, uncoated lb7 pistons with no valve reliefs at 600-1000 HP for 4 years and 43k miles without any issues. Results may vary butt i've had good luck.

I think Simon (sweetdiesel), Trent, and Jeff (stingpuller) have used Arias pistons. I think they will need to be re ringed every so often though.

all great info, i really dont wanna re-ring every 30k. Im leaning hard towards cut and coated mahle cast pistons, carillo rods, arp head main studs, hamilton valve springs and throw it back together. Probably gonna use stock main/rod bearings unless someone thinks its a bad idea

Your talking about the mahle motorsports pistons right? DO not get the LB7 mahle pistons.

Id put in some clevlite bearings (main/rod/thrust), get everything balanced, key crank and cam, put an ati dampner and billet flexplate on. Do it right this time and you shouldnt have to tear it down and do it again.

that's what i figured. it's just funny that they wouldn't use those or something like those from the factory. Heavy diesel has used it for years!!

Heard its suppose to help handle higher egts, and i only know what ive read from others that have done it. Im just gathering info from as many people as possible and try to make the best decision i can.

I'm sure coating does help reject heat, but if the coating happens to chip off will it then trap heat in the piston? Just a hypothetical question, I don't have much experience with coatings.
