Pat that doesn't seem to be very precise if you ask me :D

Sure beats a pair a calipers for detecting rod deformation. :D

A surface plate, 90° angle block, height gauge, Cadillac gauge, and a tenth indicator can do a good job. A CMM is overkill for simple tasks like rods, but it's very fast and very accurate.

Sidebar - A neat gadget to make would be Bent Rod Indicator. I started to make one and got sidetracked years ago.

It would work on LLY-LMM heads. When you build the motor, you put the indicator in each injector bore, spin the engine to the highest value, then record the numbers. You need a "test spacer" to set the indicator, and an indicator holder that can be clamped with factory clamp.

Then later, after some abuse, you pull the injectors, set the tool with the test spacer to zero, then check again. This way you'd get some warning when to tear down. This kind of tool would be very handy to those who are testing different rods.

Yup, we are 68-72°F and let all parts soak in a temp controlled area. We monitor the part temp with a NIST calibrated thermometer, and our big CMM's are thermally compensated to boot. We check the machines against each other using a Renishaw MCG (Machine Checking Gage) and also have an outside agency verify our machines with NIST standards. Perhaps overkill, but that's our lifeblood. When we say something is 1.0000", it's not .9999 or 1.0001.

Back about 9 months ago, a guy came in to recalibrate ours, well while he was doing his thing, I walked through with a bag of "oil dry" shifted it in my arms and a little puff of dust came out.... The dude looks at me and says, "I'm not here to measure dust!" "Do you want this machine accurate or not!?":roflmao:

Looks like several folks are getting curious about aluminum rods, folks are buying them......should get interesting.

I've been working on a light weight steel rod recently for those who cant grasp the annual tear down needed and other changes needed with aluminum rods.

Our prototype steel rod came in the upper 900's for weight (duramax).......close to the same weight as my aluminum rods....Now for FEA testing and other standard tests. :woott:

BTW our cummins PT rod came in at 1650g's....:thumb:

This is why many think you're an ass and a poser.

If you think pulling the engine out of a 2500HD (not a racecar) is something you do as routine maintenance, that makes you an ass.

If you actually talk to your "customers" like that, you're not really in business, you're a faker.

BTW Wade. You're not permitted to sell stuff on this board because you scammed folk on this site.

Many of your recent posts are sales pitches, even if they retarded ones, they are still not allowed by those who burned their bridges.

Wade, we do not randomly remove people's selling priviledges.

I personally saw a damaged and incomplete block you sold a member here, and asked him if you settled up. The answer was no at the time, which was about 3-4 weeks after the sale. He indicated you weren't communicating with him.

In fact, you are the only member of this site who has suspended sales permissions.

Many many people have absolutely no isses communicating across the keyboard and can keep from things being misinturpeted. lets quit makin excuses and either learn to commuicate through the damn keyboard or stick to farming

The block I purchased from Wade was damaged. The block could still be used, but I didn't pay what I did to get a damaged block. I tried calling several times. I even left messages, but never got a call back. Beware if you are going to do business with him.

Exactly. He's not a NFG to the performance forums. He's been spanked repeatedly by various sites for being a dick to people.

Communication ain't his problem, it's attitude. He talks down to everyone unless he's actively licking their boots for info or freebies.

damage from shipping was out of my hands, but i did offer you another block, or partial refund...dont remember, you said dont worrie about it the damage was easly repairable.

I sold about 30+ engines at this time and you and one other were the only ones who had issue's, the other was rick lance, and he's on this board, i also gave him a partial refund.

I've had several 100's of customers and if 2-3 problems is all i've had, id say that is quite normal in bussines.

Sting, i innovate many things....sure i dont manufacture anything in house, very few do, i was not saying i did, what i said was that im WAITING on FEA and other standard testing....not from my side ,but there's.

There is two many smart people at this site. People that talk the talk but don't perform will be found out pretty quick here. Jeff

What is interesting is that nearly all diesel shops have customers who put their name in the sigs, but you don't see NGM? in anyone's sig.

There aren't many shops with "several 100's of customers" that don't have a huge following on the performance boards.

PS - The DuramaxTuner rods were FEA'd beforehand, and they were garbage. FEA is a tool like a micrometer. It doesn't make good parts, it just tells you information about the part.
