Gmax kit with a 1056 is gonna cost you almost $3k alone. Add fluid and a deep pan and your @$32-3400 depending on which deep pan you go with. Not to mention when the tcase comes out it is right prime time to put a pump rub kit in it. Add another $250 for that. $1000 labor and you might as well call it $4700 out the door done with the pump rub kit. then you gotta get it retuned to get rid of defuel and make the most of your newly built mountain mover and thats gonna cost you a couple hundred if you go back to your original tuner who already has your license. You better count on $5k to get that job done! When you push the panty dropper to the floor though and you smoke the coyote 5.0 sitting next to you at the stop light youll be glad you dropped $5k on it!:thumb:

You won't get anyone worth a shit at 1,000,00 labor.

I would NOT recommend doing that unless you feel like having to replace clutches again at the very least

I don't follow what you mean? Was your truck not tuned with exaggerated defuel with stock tranny?

WTF are you doing here asking about a builder?

As with anyone who makes a big purchase like this spending thousands of dollars at once you'd be stupid not to shop around and see what current prices are or what the best deal is that you could get. Yes, I'm well aware that just like most things "you get what you pay for" however I think I'd be stupid not to at least ask around for what people are paying, and from the sounds of it, it's a good bit less than I've been quoted.

No, why would you want to exaggerate the defuel in a stock trans? it wont save clutches on a bigger tune and all it does is cause you to feel sloooow shifts. The defuel on my tow and race tune is damn near stock with little changes for the higher rpm shifts. Your statement above also insinuates to completely take defuel out after you build the trans. Dont want the guy to take that the wrong way :D

It was an Alto power pack which is an outdated generic kit.

It was just built less than a year ago, should I be worried about it? The owner of the shop didn't like suncoast said they had bad luck with them so thats why they used the alto kit.

Ok I was not implying to completely take it away. A lot of stock trucks around here have exxagerated defuel with stock trannies. Guess I should have stated that different.

I agree with both you guys. I would not alter defuel from stock settings for a built tranny. They do shift great from factory!

The Allison being a clutch on clutch transmission must literaly go into nuetral for a millisecond to complete the shift cleanly. If you alter that you will cause a tie up and start binding the clutches. If you do this you will be in 2 gears at once for a millisecond.
So figure a 7,000 lb truck running 500 hp with the pedal to the metal in 2 gears at once for a millisecond and the Alli loses. This is how the splines on the P2 planet and C2 hub strip.
