question for you. so your saying with that high of drive presure at wot throttle you where only in the 1400 range and down to 1350? im sorry i just done belive it. my truck would not run below 1600 at wot with the same turbo your running. I was running about 38 max psi of boost.

That's what I'm saying. With that low of EGTs I was very surprised when I hooked up the drive pressure gauge and had that high of pressures. During many 1/4 mile passes and runs to over 100mph on the street I watched the EGTs peg 1400 then drop back to 1350. After the headers and up-pipes and new tuning I couldn't get it to go over 1250* no matter what I did. Believe what you want.

Could that mean that bigger injectors lower EGT's?...

I think a 1960 PW and no smoke might have something to do with it ;).

what style headers are you running? And what version?

as of yet i have not got a set of ricks headers, but i have seen his work and the responces of those that have them on there engines and they like the fit finish and the end results very much.

Rick and i have done bussines in the past and he is a prospect in building the headers on my drag truck.

if it all pans out i will be using the spagetti syle headers...

I don't mind you asking at all - but right now it is all speculation. I am pretty certain that piston is cracked. I am getting oil out of one of the passenger side exhaust ports and excessive pressure in crankcase. Initially I thought it was a valve that let loose and caused the piston failure but with the raw diesel smell I was getting out of it tonight when we moved it to the shop I'm starting to think it was an injector. We'll see during teardown.

The craftsmanship on the headers does look top notch and I have been treated right by rick.

Man that sucks no mater what you find. Good luck on getting it fixed!

I've got a simple question for you. What product of mine are you running, or have you ran?

You and yours sure seem to have it in for me and my product or even anyone that runs my stuff and is happy. Surely you're ran something of mine yourself to have formed such a strong opinion?

Yeah like I thought and you already said...... Nuff said.

This is supposed to be a message board for the TRUE diesel enthusiast, but yet you guys shoot down so many of them just cause you don't like what they say, or what they do, or even whose parts they run. :(

I think what he might be referring to is Diesel Power endorsing parts he doesn't run. It's not about you, unless you want it to be.

Rick my biggest issue with your headers are why did you decide to build them with 304 stainless? We all know 321 is far better per our application. Why did you decided to run accordion bellows as opposed to braided stainless? Personally I would rather spend the money for 321. Do you tell your customers that 304 isn't the best thing to use for our trucks?

I bought a set from Rick through othrgrl and love them. We put them on a few weeks ago and noticed immediately that the half throttle acceleration is much better. I used to see 1400 egt at WOT and can't peg it past 1300 now; also a great egt recovery all around. @ 75 mph I used to see 650-700 degrees and now see a little below 600. It builds boost much faster and makes the 4088 feel a lot more streetable. I also installed a bd manifold at the same time so I couldn't tell which had a greater effect on egt's. The craftsmanship looks top notch and he was using bellows not the slip joints. As far as the 304 stainless was concerned, I did wonder why Rick used that versus the 321. 304 is more prone to cracking at high heat because of the nickel content correct? In any event, I personally love them and hope to have some numbers when it warms up.

Give him a call, I'm sure he'd make you a set out of 321 if you want them bad enough to pay the extra.

Pat, rick is surely NOT talking about me! It's obvious who he is talking to. You need to proof read a bit better before you post.

My reading skills are OK in this matter. You're vouching for parts you don't run. Regardless of brands involved, it's a bit silly. This isn't like boards you're used to. That don't fly here.

The poster asked for input on riser pipes and headers. You aren't running any brand, so you're getting teased for it.

I thank all who put in input about their experiences. But to those who are brown-nosing for freebies, do it elsewhere.

:exactly:

Rick
I kept my opinion out of this thread....Because i DO not own a set of your headers.

Sorry, I was still stinging a little from your last bashing and might have overreacted based on the law of averages.
