72mm vvt stock motor setup.

Here's my setup if anyone was wondering:

I'm running Nitto 420's right now and that about as sticky as a tire I can get. 305/50/r20

Tried all different psi's with the best being 20 front 18 rear.

1.822 is the best 60' and that's what I did my 13.342 on. No hitch or spare.

Now I plan on bumping my tune up to the tune that I dynoed on (2900 us) and removing my back seat, sub, amp, possibly passenger seat, battery, tailgate, maybe even a bumper and get a roll pan.

I also am replacing my cognito braces with all seasons brace hopefully to get a 1.7 60' does the burnout box even do anything for street tires? I've never used it but sometimes I see a completely street tire, even mud terrains, attempt a burnout. Does it even work with street tires?

No, I didnt just mean the "UT guys". Trent Nell was a UT guy, and I had an incredible amount of respect for what he did.

You've just got to accept that you cant do anything about where you live. You keep trying to add more air and fuel to that stock motor just to hit 12.99, you'll pop it before you hit your goal. Reread what I wrote my last post. You could be in the 12s right now, but you have to work on your driving (hell -- you only went your first time a month ago), get some sticky tires to help get your 60ft down, and you must remove weight from that truck in order to do it. You may possibly have to run a larger tune, but thats risky.

If you dont want to listen b/c its not what you want to hear (like most teens -- I have two), then we cant help you.

Just to be clear I went my first time in April, but I do agree that I am not as nearly experienced as other racers. But you've got to learn somewhere. I've tried leaving at every psi possible as well.

I know elevation sucks :( I never knew how much it affected these trucks till I started racing. I would love to have a race in California or Las Vegas but it's just not going to happen right now :/

Tried all different psi's with the best being 20 front 18 rear. That seems low to me. But then, I dont run 20s.

1.822 is the best 60' and that's what I did my 13.342 on. No hitch or spare. Keep working at it. Find your best launch rpm. Figure out what starting line procedures you are most comfortable with, and learn to repeat them. Pat has posted some GREAT tips on staging and racing in general. IdahoRob is another person I get my advice from.

You may want to try something a bit less at first -- you may not need the "big tune" to do it. You want to keep rail pressure up -- thats key.

Okay thanks that's what I was looking for :) any idea how much a stock wheel weighs?...

Sorry if I don't seem like I take anyone's answers. But I do, I'm just stubborn I guess, and have way to much free time at school so I think about trucks all day which is probably a bad habit :)

I see where your coming from, and that's why I love this forum over all the others, simply because this forum has great info!

I believe that twins work a lot better than a single in high elevations, simply because the larger charger pressurizes the air before it even enters the primary and "fools" the primary into thinking that it's receiving 15+14.1 (or whatever the oxygen density is at the given altitude) psi.

Now let me ask this. Would this work? Having an s475, s480, or s483 over the 72 just to increase the air?

Your thinking is way off. Your small turbo could careless what big turbo is feeding it when your trying to spool.

It's harder to create the higher drive pressure needed to drive a big single in high altitudes because it can not make the power it can before boost comes on in lower elevations. Smaller turbos take less drive pressure to build boost, hence why stock spools so easy.

Putting a bigger turbo infront of your will make spool up a bit slower if anything.

At 99mph, your gunna be hard pressed to get it in the 12s. You need to turn the wick up to do it or be happy with where your at if your afraid of blowing the motor. When I put twins on, I was gunna be happy with a 13.5. I wound up hitting a 13.04 at 105 with a 1.92 sixth foot on a 2800uS tune. First and last time it hit the track with twins on a stock motor as I bent the rods on the way home that night. I had the mph for 12s easy but on 37s and 7800lbs, I couldnt 60ft to save my life so regardless of your altitude, weight, tires, ect, if you can set your suspension up decent, have steering in good shape and load a big tune in it, you should be in the 12s but your gunna have to work for it and do your research cause to go faster from there it's gunna take more and more work.

I've lucked out each time I ran my trucks and blown way past my time goal but its all due in part to making sure everything is ready for the task and setup for the truck. If I put some more time in it. She has an 11 in her

Ran my 12.4@109 on a 2500US tune at 7000DA in Amarillo last year. Throw some PYO's on with some 265s 35psi in front, 25-28psi in rear, left t-bar bolt out, pass side t-bar cranked 2 turns for preload when you launch. I have trac bars but I went ahead and put clamps on my springs which I think helped out a lil. Go out and do some launches to find that sweet spot, watch your rail pressure on big tune if it holds go to track come back and show us your improvement.
