It takes x amount of hp to propel an object (truck) a certain distance over time.. (Velocity)
If you know the distance, and the velocity we can calculate how much force it took to get it that distance per unit of time.
F=MA
F=HP(Torque rather)
M=Mass of truck(Weight)
A=Acceleration (Speed of truck)
That's grossly oversimplified but it's just physics
