I'll post this warning near the top:

If you post in this thread simply because you're pissed at someone, take it to PM instead. You don't have to agree with the concept of a big inch Dmax to post in this thread, but do not just post hatemail because you think it will pass as tech. We all know what the difference is, whether or not you play dumb.

Lets try to have this discussion here. Maybe we can get more info and learning done and less trash talk from haters.
I for one love this stroker kit. For the money of a complete overhaul there is no other sensable option.

I agree... people are making a big deal about the price. For 12k you have a balanced rotating assembly... heads and installation might put you at 22,000K the 7.1 stroker kit is for max effort simple as that this kit although usable for me would not be the perfect choice for me but for someone like Pat, or Max'd Out this kit would be worth it. I do still find it funny that people are debating about Cubic Inches... I thought everyone knew "there is no replacement for displacement"

I certainly don't believe there is a "one size fits all" modification, and the stroker is no exception. I've been wanting to run one for at least year, and finally pulled the trigger. I'm not the average Dmax owner though. I'm a lunatic. :D

Bang for the buck is weak on all hard parts for our trucks. The first 100HP is cheap, and as you go higher and higher, the cost per HP climbs quickly. I remember what a big decision our first trans buildup was. I think that still is the biggest single jump for most owners.

But we have taken Casper way past the point of no return, so mods like stroker kits are just the next step up the food chain.

I guess I have missed all the Shit talking on the strokers? I was not aware anyone thought they had issues. I can see doin the stroker for a Max Effort truck, but for everyday driving I would be curious how it behaves, the mileage it can get and how it would do sitting in traffic.

No, guys from other shops spewed a bunch of unrelated nonsense in threads about strokers on TheDieselPlace in an effort to close the threads. It's a common tactic on the internet. Start a fight to close a thread you don't want others to read.

I see, I guess I missed it as I don't spend alot of time over there anymore. It's shit like that, that kills me. Guy IMO has done a very nice job on these motors, I see the number of his motors increasing weekly it seems. Ignorance is a bitch, I for one wouldn't care who came up with the stroker kit, it could be my worse enemy and I would still look at the inovation and engineering it took to complete this kit and give him an atta boy.

My bad I derailed, sorry

So far as a daily driver its been great, no issues at all. The milage increased alot. He gets about 21 to 23mpg pulling his enclosed motorcycle trailer with 4 bikes in it. As far as sitting in traffic I had it a few weeks ago and it was 103* to 105* and we had the ac blowing and it stayed just under 210* all day.

ok ok you two let it be.

B.O.T.

No does anyone have a 7.1 that they have only done the stroker to it and just use the stock turbo and stock like tunes to see how well it runs/tows?

Question from a dummy that may or may not help others too:

Let's pick a do-able HP # for a stock displacement motor..... say 750, 800, 850, 900, 1000.... pick your number.

How will a stroked motor compare to a stock displacement motor with regards to stress on engine components?

In other words, if I make an 800 HP in each motor using resonably the same components (turbos, injectors, no nitrous, etc.) which one should I (in theory) expect to last longer? Or is there a difference?

I know there isn't a concrete answer to this as they could both let go at any time. But since the stroker should be running at less of a % of ideal maximum would this translate into anything tangable?

Dumb question?
