I had a blast with my little 4.8 truck it may have been a high 13 to low 14 truck on a good day and me hitting the shifts. But the noise of that little engine wrapping up tight as a drum is addicting. Next month is the month for a new toy. It will most likely be an ls

You guys were right...
I'm sorry...

I thought fer sure the only difference between the 4.8 and 5.3 was the bore, but it is the stroke that is the (main) difference...

I went back thru my LS build books, notes and the internet and found I was very mistaken, and I'm terribly sorry for posting crap,
I was so sure tho:angel:

Not a 5.3 but you get a lot more bang for your buck building a gasser

Roughly 8.2 liters of displacement :woott:

Setup a Photobucket account. Get the app and it makes life way easy. Then you just copy and paste the IMG code.

If I don't turbo this BBC I am building a boosted small block

Not a big deal man, hell im wrong more than im right in the diesel game. I was ticked off by your posts because i was purposely misled by a guy here a couple months ago, and he will not admit he was wrong. Caused me alot of tuning issues on my 4.8 and i went back to stock. Difference is this guy stil swears he wasnt wrong and is doing work for other people i know, and you can swallownyour pride and say you were wrong. All is cool man

How in the hell did you squeez out around 490 cubes? Biggest i have seen is 472ish. ON EDIT: i have heard of race engines around 500 before. But they were block filled race only engine

You know another awsome huge power motor is an 8.1. Buddy of mine is in the 12's with an 8.1 swap in his z71. Nasty bastard for sure, he will be adding boost this season for 11's. You can find them pretty cheap in junk yards and they have become more numerous do to there age now

The blowthrough works great if ya know how a holley works and can tune it. That carb was set up by kevin at csu. He does a great job and the carbs are pretty close out of the box

Any of y'all have experience with the gear vendors over drive units?

I'll be running a 3 speed Th400 behind this BBC and I like cruising 70mph without losing my hearing so looking for something to drop the RPMs when I'm cruising hwy speeds
