Bro just bought an 01 1500 with a 5.3. Bone stock, he's looking for the most bang for the buck to juice it up a little. Anyone got recomendations for that??

Tuners, exhaust, intakes, tb's.... whats gonna do the most for the truck??

x2 on the spray... i hear they respond very well with cam changes as well ... cam, intake, tune and full exaust from the block back . also slp makes some high ratio rocker arms that arent to spendy . get some more lift out of stock cam anyway .

My experience with spray consists of a 10 lb bottle, a 3/8 feed and fired straight into the throat of a B&S 5hp carbuerated motor. It lasted about 10 seconds, then boom! I kinda doubt he wants to spray too. I think he's lookin to gove it a little more juice for daily driving. He intends to put bigger tires and a lift, so he wants to be able to getout of his own way once thats done.

Thanks for the link Justin. Procharger would be nice, but again $$$$$$$$$ :D

My bro has an '05 with magnaflow catback 3", K&N CAI, and a superchips 3 setting programmer.

It goes pretty good for the ~$650 he has into it. He is putting 33's and a 2" lift on it tomorrow as well actually.

Thats what my brother wants to do as well. Level it out with 33's.

If you wouldn't mind, could you find out what kind of mileage he sees after doing the lift??

Thanks

I will ask him to monitor it and get some feedback.
If your bro lives in Nevada though, it may not be quite the same. My brother lives in the mountainous Okanagan Valley and has a heavy left foot more often than not!

I can't see it being more than a 1 or 2mpg difference though.

He lives in Idaho. Little more hilly than it is here, but not high mountains.

Thanks

Try performancetrucks.net , thats where I started out at(even have a green name), you wont find a better place for GM truck performance. Ill start by asking how much his budget is first?

Heres what he should do in this order bang for the buck wise:
tune(custom no handheld Wheatley or Nelson do a good job also blackbear uses EFI and is a little easier to get ahold of), K&N drop in filter, cut out the front of the airbox(CAIs arent worth the money), lt headers/ditch the cats(if possible), exhaust(magnaflow or corsa my personal favorites).

That should get him started, if hes willing to drop the transmission or crack open the motor we can talk further, thats where the real fun starts.:cool2:

Right now, he's looking to keep it a dd, get some decent mileage and have enough juice to haul a 4k trailer. Magnaflow and some form of tuner he is looking at right now, wants to keep $$$ as tight as possible since he's looking at buying a house soon.

I told him about EFI, jusst dont know anybody in his area that has one a nd knows how to tune a gasser.

edit: do K&N have the same aborted breath baiting on a gasser as they do in a diesel?? I know turbo vehicles need a little better filtration than a non turbo, but running a K&N isn't gonna be that big a deal will it??
