With my setup.......which means a front bumper/winch that weighs 310 pounds......and a Readylift leveling kit (which I have NO rear blocks...just cranked the front to match the back) and 35X12.50 tires....with that setup and the pic below of my angles, can I 4X4 launch? Right now I have HD sleeves.....but if need be I could get more? I was thinking actual HD tie rods, HD tie rod ends and braces....would that be enough? If not, what would I need to do to 4X4 launch? I know some will say lower it at the truck, but I'm already a hair from rubbing, so I could hit a straight line down the track but I might not be able to turn to get back  Suggestions? I just know some people say the front raises/etc....but will my bumper hold it down?

Only one way to find out!! you will definitley have toe in issues if you launch hard, put in a straight centerlink and you should be OK.

run smaller tires, try to get the CVs level & get a straight centerlink

I remember a few years back somebody with a leveled truck & big tires trying to launch. He had a straight centerlink & still ended up bending the chit out of it.

its not gonna be pretty man. get braces at the very least and smaller tires...also the lift keys are probably gonna have to go to get the angles good

Eh....that sux. I literally in the past year have purchased 3 sets of wheels and tires.....and these are only a month old...don't wana do it again. I might just have to suck it up and realize I built my truck for PA activities and weather, and not racing..... Maybe in the future I'll drop er' down and run 33X12.50's....I wouldn't mind doing that.....I'd be the only low rider with a winch :thumb: And in the meantime I can save up for twins....

Beech you think those angles would be alright launching at say like 6 or 7 lbs? With the keys in my truck that's probably about all I will be able to get mine down to at the track....I'm going to let it rip anyways and hope for the best:eek::happy2:

do you have aftermarket keys too ronnie? i mean those angles are crazy bad but you'd really be surprised how much that little of an angle can affect it. plus at only 6-7 pounds the launch wont be any good anyway it will just bog out a little till it builds boost.

pull the bolts completely out and see how low it gets

That's what I'm going to do just pull them all the way and see what happens. The keys in mine are the Maxx Cam keys, they adjust a ton so i will see what I can do. How much truck sits right now they are cranked up about halfway/ If I pull them out all the way it should drop it to almost stock I would think....my keys claim +2.5/-3 I believe.

Nouseforaname, do you have your factory wheels yet? Throw some little tires on them and lower your keys!

A good idea if your removing the bolts & reinstalling them alot, is fill the space from the bolt head to cross member with washers. That way you get them right back to where they were before. Don't forget to keep plenty of never seize on the bolts.

If i were you id get a tuff country 4" lift kit and keep your larger tires. Your cv angles would be great so you wouldnt have to drop the tbars down at the track and you could keep it at a good heigth with bigger tires for offroading.

If you lower the front end down and then put it back to where it was before is an alignment needed?

Your CV angles are pretty bad for 4x4 launches but you could you could still probably launch at 1000-1200 rpms and be fine. You'll lose a couple tenths but you will probably not break anything. I would start off at 1000 rpms and see how it feels, if it leaves straight try 1100 and so on. If it pulls stop while your ahead!

Guys, this thread was brought back from the dead so a guy could ask if he needed an alignment after lowering and raising the torsion bars back up.
