Just to clarify for readers, mark has a 68mm turbo that is an lly turbo that's machined to 68mm. It has a smaller exhaust housing. Basically an lly turbo with a larger wheel and I believe new vanes. That is why it cost more than the 4094 is because its machined larger.

He also has his 4094 which is a different turbo from Garrett that has a larger exhaust housing and turbine. It comes from the factory with a 68mm compressor and can be machined to 72mm which is the turbo that he is mostly known for.

Right, and you can also send him your stock vgt (LLY, LBZ,LMM) and have it machined out to fit a 68mm wheel as well, you can have a cast wheel dropped in or use a billet, they replace and rebuild everything so it is in a like new condition

But you spend more money doing that than getting a 4094 ;)

Huh:confused:
The upgrade is something like $1200 iirc if you send in your stock turbo. A 4094avant is like $2200 for a brand new one, and the vgt72 iirc is like $2600. The worst and most expensive way to do it is how I have done it, and that is to buy a standard 4094avant and then have them upgrade it to a vgt72, but at the time I could only afford to get the 4094avant and did not have the fuel requirements to use the vgt72 in its optimum range for my application. I still don't...

A 4094 is $1750 on his site. No core required. I believe the 68mm stage 2 turbo he sales is more $$ and needs a core.

Thanks again guys for all of the recommendations and advice. My plan A is still looking like the DPB4094va. Hopefully I can install it myself and get some tuning from Rob and be good to go.:woott:

I have been in a truck with a 42% cp3 and 30% over injectors stock motor with just the gt4094avnt and i was pretty impressed. Tuning by kory and she ripped. Truck put down just shy of 600rwhp on tune 4. But it seemed like a sweet setup.

You can do it urself just get a turbo instal gasket kit and dnt forget to cut the tabs off the intake plenums. Start on a Friday nite so you have the weekend. Or just take it to the dealership they charge 6hrs for turbo replacement.

There is a GT4094R (ball bearing, water cooled, fixed turbine, needs an install kit) and a 4094AVNT (variable vane, straight upgrade from a factory turbo).

He wants the 4094AVNT or VVT as some call it.

The tab that needs to be cut is on the compressor housing, however, I believe Garrett fixed this a while back.

Mine had the tab and it popped a hole in the driver side intake runner. Talk about a lot of fun trying to figure out why it is not making boost and running like butt. There is a thread on here that I started showing what to watch out for.

Anyone know of and good installer near SLC? Or should I take this one on myself? I'm probably going to go the 4094 route.
