What about trying the new P3 planet option coming gets you a higher 1st around 2.82, higher reverse and 6th around .55

The 1-2 will always be a wasted shift as is the 5-6 there is no need for the planet. That and it would do nothing for what he's trying to accomplish either way.

So he's trying to stay in 2nd thru 5th? Makes sense, 3 gears keep the shift time losses down but man that second gear start high would be a high sucker :D

Evan - does a second gear launch only put more wear on the torque converter? Or is there more to it? Just curious.

The converter takes a little more stress because of the load but so long as you don't sit on the converter for to long it's fine which is the same for 1st gear starts. I've yet to have any converter failures in any of the high hp truck running 2nd gear starts. I'd never run anything but at track personally.

I don't race at the track, but I play a bunch :D I made a TCM tune that gives me a second gear start if I select M2. I've been too timid to try it out with a real launch. I'm going to have to sack up now and and play, LOL. Thanks

I've purchased 3.42s for my truck as well . I'm hoping for higher MPH as well as better 60' times . I do 2nd gear launches as well. Best 60' to date was on Tune 3 @ 1.44 . Any higher Tune spins the DRs out of the hole . I'm hoping the 3.42s will alllow me to put all of the power down without spinning out of the hole as well as load the engine harder and stay in the torque band longer which should propel the truck harder for better ETs too . That's the thought process any way .:happy2:

Will these gears work well for a sled pull? Debating on throwing the 3.42s in before UCC. No matter what I want to do them after.

Congrats Ne-max!

Hey guys, you want me to move this into the tech area? Seems to have changed course from a want ad.
