Currently debating either to trade in my l5p for an AT4 with a babymax, I’ve been out of this performance game for a while lol since I trade in my lml which I regret, have you guys heard anything good about those 3.0 Duramax ? Or should I just get the regular 6.2 gasser since there’s no more medicine for Diesel engines anymore :(

Is the 3.0 in a Colorado , because there is a size difference to get use to . And the 425 hp in the 6.2 is nice . I guess if we knew how long $2.00 gas it would be an easy choice , since that was one of your concerns . Good luck it is a buyers market for now !

My 6.2 gets 15.6/19.2 with a Banks tuner set on max.
The 3.0 has reported 30/ 34 mpg. Plus I like inline 6's. Not a fan of V6's.

It’s on a 1500 Gmc AT4 the 3.0, I like also I-6 a lot easier to work on, wife has a 6.2 on her Yukon and it likes Gas lol gets about 14 city 18 highway, we do a lot of driving since my daughter plays on a softball travel team....

TX of course
I think the 6.2 is a pretty stout engine, but who knows how the 3.0 will hold up.

I don’t see any benefits to the 3.0. Sure your mpg is better but your maintenance is higher and it costs more than the 6.2 IIRC and is slower.

And the wet belt drive variable displacement oil pump worries me. I know to most it doesn't seem like a big deal to have the trans pulled at 150k miles to replace a belt, but not to me.

Really I am undecided, I just want something reliable I don’t need my 2500hd no more lol
I am in the same boat and no longer need my LBZ. I really like the AT4 with the 6.2L and am leaning that way

I initially wanted a raptor buuutttt drove my friends and it’s all rite just dint like the ricer sound lol, then I saw the at4s and fell in love with them, my l5p has been great no issues only maint, I heard about that oil pump wet driving belt they are saying 150k miles, maint wise think it’s about the same since it only takes 7qt of oil... I have a 6.2 but don’t like that 14mpgs lol

Side not I can’t find one around here south Texas

I have the Silverado 1500 3.0 baby max. I love it!. I did put a 6" lift on it. Great mileage and you still can tow a trailer if you want.

Some good answers to some of the same questions I had about the 3.0.

I’m waiting for them to put a few more gears in the trans behind the 6.6 gas and then that’s gonna be my next truck. Been driving a 10 speed 7.3 ford gasser at work lately and the extra gears are pretty nice. Hate the truck though. Really don’t tow anything heavy enough anymore to warrant the diesel but need the payload of the 3/4 ton still so the diesel 1/2 ton doesn’t work for me. Nice truck though.
