Would any of the 2wd guys like to share info on setup?

Im new to the duramax game and looking for traction. I have a LLY with M&H slicks and rear springs clamped front and back. T bars dropped with 1 turn back into the pass side (seems to help with transfer). The truck is gutted, no interior, seats, rear bumper, all extra bracing and skid plates removed, no inner fenders, pulled EGR, ditched (1) batt, removed all extra metal on the front bumper behind plastic covers, no tailgate or rear bumper, single 6" stack, removed front sway bar, AC and hood insulation.

I would like to add some caltracs and good shocks. QA-1 with the double adjust looks great but are they worth it on a 2wd?

Your plans for caltracs and Qa1 's are a good choice , I still dont have the answer whether a soft or hard rebound for weight transfer is good or not for a 2WD but i do know the qa1 has the spectrom covered as far as valving goes so it should be the last shock you will need . I have a thread here for Caltrac hypothisis and has some good diagrams on how different mount holes affect instant center , anti squat , and rear rise . its a good read .

what kind of 60 ft have you got so far ? I know a few guys have gotten high 1.7's out of there 2wd trucks .

hey mind if i ask what size slicks you have and aprox how much they were?

my truck is 4x4 but i never use it at the track 2wd is much more fun...so far my best time is 14.1 on a stock trans and banks/superchip tuning.

edit just saw the tranny in sig...

lower the rear... can add balast behind the rear axle will help weight transfer... talking 100-150lb.. it does make a difference

both of them actually...

i have manage to cut 2.07s

common is 2.1X thats before the traction bares were put on.. havent managet o get to a track since i installed them

do you run on street tires or slicks? i figure i can get in the 1.x's if i were to get myself some half decent track only slicks

my times are on 315/75/16 bfg all terrains

Edit: actually i may have cut that 2.00x 60' on the toyos i had prior im not 100% sure but they were the same size

never ran slicks.. been running 315/75/16 procomp Xats on stock PYO rims..

yep i have a couple spare steel rims with junk tires that use to race on....ive never paid for the tires i race on always just dug up the best i could from behind a local tire shop and run them till the steel comes out... but i have been thinking pretty hard about buying a set of real slicks....im currently adding the things i need to my truck to try running in 4x4 and if im not happy with the result that is probably what ill do... i know Hoosier makes a 35x17x16 tire so thats probably what ill look at getting.

the bigger the better for me i want to stay out of 5th gear as much as possible

even the best 2wd's with slicks have a hard time keeping pace with a 4wd and only moderate results (1.7'S) unless you 4 link/ back half a 2wd i dont think it is worth it . not on a truck that can be ran in 4wd anyway. If a 2wd is all you got then ya i would try like Hell to make it work !

yea im sure thats correct...ill be trying out 4x4 soon but before when i was running all 315 tires it actually made me slower...and 2wd is just so much i honestly believe with a good setup and tires and can come pretty close to the 4x4 times by making up for the lower 60' at the top end....but ill see how it goes at the track in the next week or 2.

with my slicks I went from 2.1 to consistent low 1.8 sixties.. Slicks help

 thats awesome!!! and those are not even that big....i wanna get larger ones to help from putting too much stress on my trans (my C3's are hurt) so ill spend less time in 5th.

Would you mind terribly if you could maybe ballpark me on how much those slicks ran you? and where you got them? it would be most appreciated. thanks
