Nobody mentioned sfa. But torsion bars are dated... Maybe some stout tierods, centerlink, revised pitman arm and idler geometry. It would be nice to handle a boosted launch with a decent ride height.

I couldn't agree more! Don't ditch the IFS, just beef up the weak points some.

I agree. The amount of ball joints and front universal joints our shop does on Dodge/Ford's easily pays for all my hotrod parts for my IFS truck haha.

I however would love to see a rack and pinion setup instead of the dated pitman/idler. Every other vehicle has it. Not sure if it's a weight/size problem for a 3/4+ton truck, but I feel like that would solve a lot of our problems.

I took your comment about the solid front end as a solid front axle. I've seen many people make this comment before in regards to the IFS, and say they want a SFA.

I dont have any problems with ifs, its the torsion bars I hate. They could give us coilovers like the 1500's anddI'd be thrilled, if they still have torsion bars im gonna go a difffrent route. Nothing against gm, but that technology has been around long enough, time to go...

Those are going away^. Fords 2.7 will absolutely destroy a 5.3 truck. Have you been in one?

I think Rich is referring to the LS engines. GM is doing very well with the pushrod engine. You can easily put a turbo on a 5.3 to make much more power. How much can you do to the 2.7? I would rather have the 5.0 in Ford anyway, because the 2.7 ecoboost doesn't get any better milage.

Any good updates yet ? I guess they're really trying to push as many 2016s as they can before saying anything..

Nothing new on the 2017. But I foresee the 1500 trucks having a 2.8 baby Duramax option and 8 spd later on. Since we will be using it in the vans as a option at our plant.

Judging from what sdp has done with their baby duramax, that seems like a bright future for vans and possibly half tons with the 2.8.
