ain't that the truth :p

No shit.:D I envy my parents, they grew up in a time when getting in a fight didnt involve getting expelled or arrested. I dont know what happened but Americans used to be view as "Men" now we are surely evolving into a bunch of pu**ys:eek:

No offense to Kat lol, but I blame the mothers of America, and the Liberals. There is nothing wrong with being a leftest or protecting your child but we need to be toughened up. We need to experience pain and humiliation its a passage to growing up. We all went through it. By the way I have no idea where my thoughts are coming from.lol

No offense taken  I feel the same way. Tommy was 4 or 5 and was misbehaving on a field trip with the school. I wanted to give him a swat on the bottom, but opted for pulling his hair a bit to get his attention. The looks I got was like I had taken a belt to him from the other parents  He straightened up though :D

LOL. I cant tell you how many times my parents did the same damn thing.

I few years ago my parents and I, were getting on to an airplane leaving Palm Springs and I was being a real shit to my dad, so he flicks me on the head and told me to knock the shit off "retard". Some random woman who was also boarding stopped my dad, pulled him off to the side and said, "I work with handicapped children" my dad turned all red and didnt say another word. i dont mean for this story to offend anyone just had to share my story of someone getting even with my dad without me being directly at fault. I also have no Idea why I decided to share this story....?

Yep its too bad... :(

my parents always laughed at the whole lame-ass concept of a "time out" and I feel the same way. When I was bad as a little kid I got a good spanking and ya know what? All it took was one and I NEVER did it again?? Amazing!! What most kids wont learn after 500 "time outs" took me only 5 seconds to learn. I even remember when I did something REALLY BAD (I dont remember tho), my dad yelled "ALRIGHT THATS IT!!!!" and went out into our shop...I heard the table saw, band saw and drill press fire up, and he came back in with a nice big 3/4" plywood paddle, about the size of a tennis racket, holes drilled in it and everything. He said next time I did something wrong, it was coming off the top shelf in the kitchen and I was going to see what it felt like. From then on, if I started to act up, all my mom had to say was "do you want me to tell dad about this when he gets home???" and I shut right up. :D

Another thing I love "im going to count to 10". Come on thats lame, if the kid doesnt do it the first time you ask, chances are they arent gonna do it if you ask them again 10 seconds later.

If we had to go somewhere and I was fussing about it was "ok ben lets go" "no I dont want to" "BENNNNN!!!" "Im not going grumble grumble" "GET IN THE GOD DAMN CAR NOW BEFORE I LEAVE YOU HERE ALONE!!!" WOrked everytime

I also see so many kids today that are the most impolite little POS's in teh world...dont know their manners, or even the simple concept of looking someone in the eye with a firm handshake. Simple things like that people appreciate, and it gains you respect, whether it be in a job interview, meeting your girlfrinds parents, whatever...

When my mom was little and was bad, her dad made her go into the woods and find herself a willow branch that she had to bring back for him to spank her with.
Talk about giving you time to think about how much it was going to hurt and how you would never do what you did to get into trouble again!!

When I was little, my Dad's hand WAS the size of a tennis racket LOL!!

We've tried time-out....a good swat on the ass gets their attention much faster. :)

My old man used to give me one swift kick in the ass (wearing cowboy boots) when I acted up. The worse it was, the harder he kicked........ Didnt take but a couple of those and I knew better!

So if all these people on here that posted agree that the timeout is lame and getting a kids attention is by hurting their pride, not neccessarily by physical contact, why are there so many people out there that think diciplining a child is hurting their ability to individualize themselves and that it's wrong to dicipline them in such said ways??
