man, i was just talking about this with a buddy today. my 02 with 80-85k on it gets 2wheelbearings(3 months apart), had a 6" lift, and offset wheels. my 01, which is my work truck, 285s and factory rims; it has a heavy ass boss vee plow on it every winter and pulls a trailer 5-6 days a week for the past 8yrs, is still on its factory bearings with close to 200k on it. my theory is us guys with with lifts and or offset wheels are trashing these wheelbearings easier than with the factory rim/offset. i would get timkens with the lifetime warranty and keep the reciept in the glovebox because you(we) will be changing them again:( guaranteed

My trucks only been lifted a few weeks. It's had h2s on it most of it's life too but I do agree with you

I find on my truck it is the opposite. I fixed my wheel bearings at 50,000 miles. At 55,000 I got some wheels with a -25 offset. My truck now has 183,000 miles. No problems yet. I think there must be different levels of quality. Even among the oem parts.

Do you know who manufactured the bearings that you used the last time they were replaced? All bearings are not created equal. Some of the "cheaper" ones have softer materials in them, so they don't hold up as well under heavy load conditions.

It doesn't take much of an offset from stock and/or big tires to increase the stress a bearing sees. The extra stress plus a "weaker" bearing will equal a short bearing life.

80 000km with a 6" lift-no issues with mine and I run a fair bit of gravel as well. Must be a hit or miss thing.

Jordan, sorry about the luck. I'm sure Trent could have used you for the install for sure... I always say, "it wasn't meant to be" when something like that happens.

No it sticks out a lot more. With the offset I have the spokes are exactly centered in the rim. That would make it have less stress on the bearing, I think. With the stock rims the spokes are out closer to the lip of the rim which would make the forces on each side uneven. I dont really know just kinda thinkin out loud.

Another thing to remember about bearings...Once they get a little out of place they will go very very fast.

Something to check all the time. After 50k I would say pull the bearings, re grease and re tighten and you might get them to last longer.

On the other hand, I have seen a wheel be loosey goosey and bearing shot last thousands of miles

I'm afraid to say anything about my bearings...

How do you grease a unit bearing?

You can't grease the bearings Mike have you looked at one? You can't even press a new one in. I check to make sure they're torqued properly every 5k. But when they go they go quick
