Not taking anything away from anybody but I had the silver 66 for almost a year. I now have a double batmo 472. IMO the 72 is ten times the turbo the 366 was. Cleaner running too. Not sluggish once I got the tuning dialed in for the 5" intake. 472 or 475 & you'll never look back.

Did you have the billet wheel in the 66? Did you ever drive a truck with one of "box stock" s472's? How much of an improvement it a double batmo?

Mine didn't have the billet wheel. I haven't driven a regular 472 but mike diesel has an entire threat about his 472. I'm not sure how much difference the db makes but I LOVE this turbo. My smallest tune is 1489 us & it holds 40 psi all the way to the shift. With my silver 66 on the 2550 us tune I hit 40 psi at 2400 rpm & by 3400 I was back down to 30 psi. Don't ask me why cuz I don't know. It drove me crazy. I do my own tuning so I thought there had to be something I was missing. Nothing ever made it run any better. Add pulsewidth, got more smoke. Add timing, got more rattle. Changed turbo now I'm happy:D

And a suncoast 1058 will be my next converter if my ml craps out on me. I've almost bought a 1058 a few times but didn't have a core to send in so I've been holding off till one pops up for sale with no core charge.

I got one...can't wait to try her out

Call me crazy, but I'm still kinda skeptical because I'll be running stock injectors for a while. Did you ever run the 472 with stock injectors? It seems to me that to make a 472 really work well, you need bigger sticks.

So jelly of you, mine keeps getting bumped back.

That's why Im stick in with a 366 for now until I can do sticks and most air...maybe studs if I spring a leak

Yea, mine kept getting pushed back until I ordered the darn kit.... Now I'm using the core charge to justify working on the truck this weekend, lol.

Do any of y'all with s472's have TCM tuning?

I don't have any tcm tuning. I've talked with my tuner about it, looking at my logs and how the truck drives...He said a tcm tune wouldn't benefit me since I have no problem staying on top of the charger and horsepower drops off real quick after 3200 rpm anyways.

If my converter is locked I can hold 43 psi boost all the way to redline and through every shift other than the 1-2. My Danville 72 would go from 42 psi down to 28-32 psi in the higher rpm...didn't matter what we did with vane position, it wouldn't maintain boost. The s472 has no problem...oh yea and did I mention the 472 keeps me 400 degrees cooler!!

The guy i bought this s472 from said he did the billet/batmo thing and ended up going back to the factory borg cast wheel because he liked it the most. I find it very interesting. I wish I had the motor to actually push this turbo or else I would try the billet out for myself and see the comparison. I already love the crap out of this turbo.

I wouldn't hesitate to run this thing with stock sticks. It may be a little tougher to spool but when it hits you'll be fine. The egt's are much lower than with my silver 66 or stock charger too. The tuning is everything with a big single. If you can get the fuel in it'll light.

Nope pretty straight forward. You'll want something to cap off or block the residual fluid that comes out of the trans lines and you'll have to move the front pipe a little if it is an aftermarket set up

I'm building my trans and have a 1058 with stock turbo for now, I ran a billet 472/rc on my zf truck and it seemed laggy but of course it lost all boost between shifts, I might do the same turbo or a 468, can't decide :/
