Doesn’t matter though. Checked right bank return rates. It’s around 25ml so looks like I’m doing the injectors. I was actually pretty sure they were bad just by how it idled but without the haze and overall return spec I was skeptical. I like to eliminate the other stuff before I throw money and time at things like this. Previous owner threw a cp3 at it hoping that would fix it.

Thanks for the help folks. Got it halfway in my tent and starting to rip and tear. Hope to have it all apart by tomorrow night. My only concern is
A: being able to get the injectors out as I don’t have the tool and all my heel bars are at work and
B: the age old dilemma to pull cups or just reuse and reseal the ones that come out on the injectors

Pull. Pull pull pull pull pull I don’t know how much I can stress this there is literally no reason to do injectors twice. My injectors came out easy. Just A bit of prying. Like with a small pry bar or flat screwdriver.

Both times I did injectors in my LB7 they came out easy without needing a pry bar

I also didn't pull and reseal any of the cups. Didn't have any leaks. With that being said, most here will likely agree that pullimg the cups is the best idea

The way I see it, if the injectors come out easy, it’s highly unlikely you disturbed the seal on the cups. All 4 on the easy side came out easy, still got Vaseline on them from the injector change number 2 done 200000km ago.

One thing I noticed is #5 came out with absolutely no soot or carbon on it. The other three all were carboned to some extent.

Looks like you are making good headway. My injectors has little to no carbon on them too.

Just a little twisting and pulling and popped out. Put one of the injector lines on as a handle to pull on while twisting

All out. No cups came with and all the injectors came out fairly easy. The back 2 on the D/S needed the injector line handle trick but weren’t too bad. Need to find one injector harness that I found zip tied together at the connector, injectors and some seals and do it all in reverse.

Check / adjust the valve lash while you are in there

Ya was going to spot check a couple at least. Almost 160 000 miles on it. By the looks of the oil inside the hot pipe it looks like it might be needing a turbo soon also.

Hmmm. I’m literally using 7.5 scan tool right now on an lmm

Some time in the next couple days I’m going to hook it up to my lml and get it sorted out. Even if I have to completely reinstall both v8 and 7.5. Tired of fighting with it.

Core injectors sent out. I’m going to try a shop in Quebec that does a lot of common rail stuff so I can get a quick turnaround without having to deal with duty and customs charges. Will see how they turn out.

Unless they are a Bosch certified remanufacture then don’t waste your time and money.

Not sure what their credentials are. I just know a buddy has used them in the past for stuff and they were good for him. They do mostly Bosch only and also are a training facility. For the price time frame and considering this truck isn’t hanging around once it goes back together I figured it was worth a shot. Can’t be any worse than pensacola.

Anybody know if there is any difference between an lb7 and lbz cp3 other than the regulator?

Ha. I was lying to myself in hopes I could avoid doing them. It’s still weird it ran as good as it did with no idle haze though.

Just remans going in. Not keeping this truck for long.
