Well I found my problem. 2 out of 3 pistons were seized in the bores of the pump causing my no pressure situation the steel is actually blue from the heat. Went and got what I thought was a used pump off another lb7 but in fact it turned out to be a built lbz pump with the lb7 regulator. The...
True. It's getting plugged in one last time on Sunday to check out my ficm and stuff to make sure that's good too. I only want to be in there once. Thanks again for your help!
Side note* I know yinz would kill me over it but looking to get a 7.3psd zf6 and make the duramax into a work class...
Yes very true but I have faith in my lil ol duramax. They haven't given me issues and no haze or smoking or making oil or cold start issues. I'll test them after I put a pump in it or I'll make a special too so I can put fuel and air pressure to it (50 psi) and see if they're leaking past the...
I plan on getting a sportsman pump for it within the week and machine out the intake horn at my trade school. And yes that what I figured when I wasn't getting fuel from the injectors is that its so shot and the injectors aren't leaking which is a good sign in my eyes. Thank you guys so much for...
I tested once more with the filter head hooked up this time and ficm unhooked. Injectors returned nothing from what I see and the pump returned a lil over 100ml with the FPR plugged in. So it points to a bad cp3 correct? Or is there anything else I can test?
Hard to believe that just that much excess fuel could present it from starting. Just a dumb question but does it matter that I tested while it was 55f outside? I heard that you should above 60 so I'm just curious. Thanks!
I tested and got almost 100ml of fuel back. So if it is a bad pump would it cause the truck not to fire? And would it have caused it to die on me in the middle of the road while driving?
Well that rubber line that comes from the pump and up will leak fuel even with the truck not running. Currently the truck wont run at all not even on wd40 if I leave my gravity fed bottle on the inlet line of the cp3 it'll leak it back to the tank from somewhere. It wont anymore because I...
I have a lb7 with 281k on it with all original parts from the day it was new and it has died on my and makes roughly 250psi cranking over. It returns about 150ml to the tank on a 15 second crank period. I have it on a gravity feed system to eliminate air leaks and it'll drain a quart bottle in...
Tested all the injectors at the harness this morning with a DVOM meter and they solenoids all read between 0.6 and 0.9 so from my understanding they're still good or at least the solenoids are. Started testing the FICM but I dont know the spec numbers on them some are 3.125 and some are .503.
That was my thought but I've had so many others say ots injectors but even if one was hung it wouldn't leak that much fuel out in that lil bit of time.
So the pump is just gone for sure? It leaked all the fuel outta the bottle (1 quart) in 2 hours and went to the return line to the fuel cooler (disconnected and put in bottle)
So I gravitate fed a bottle to the pump and cranked for 15 seconds with the return line off the tank and got 150ml of fuel. Left bottle on and it has leaked an additional 120ml of fuel without cranking and will push alot it you squeeze the bottle. Sound like a failed CP3? Or can it leak past the...
Thanks. Is there any specific way to just test the pump if its good or bad? I was thinking of pulling it making a jig putting it an a mill table and turning it at cranking rpms and pressure testing it.
So injectors would cause it to just shut down without warning? And have a no start situation? I've eliminated the filter head so no air leak. Capped the injectors 1 by 1 and still wouldn't fire. Can the CP3 be the culprit? Under a load it'll only make 4-9k psi max. It also falls on its face past...
