I tried those severe duty pads for about 3 weeks and they were too soft and left brake dust all over my wheels. Switched back to the factory ones as soon as they came in (back ordered) and now I have clean wheels and better braking.
Seems overkill for a 14k trailer to me. I use a 14k bumper pull daily and I use Cooper Discovery LT tires and I have been very pleased with them. I usually get between 70 & 80k out of them and they are under $200 a piece.
On my LML I use the stock rotors and pads front and rear. I am a transporter so there is always a trailer connected to the truck. I am on my 2nd set of front pads - stock GM pads. The original pads went 300k, replaced them and did not need to turn rotors. I am still on the original set of pads...
Eek! Here, I was upset that my radiator blew out on me last night 2000 miles away from home. My repair only cost me $1000 for a new radiator and t-stats installed. I am definitely keeping my motor stock. Just turned 464,115 miles on it.
I wish that they would come out with a true fog light. Flood lights are too bright in all directions and blind the oncoming drivers. I have tried the Piaa brand LED fog lights and they are crap. My parking lights are brighter than the Piaa's, so I took them off my truck and put them on my wife's...
I just installed these off road seats in place of my stocks front seats. I wanted a suspension type seat and at $200 a piece I figured these would be a cheap test to be sure that I actually do want a true suspension seat. The nice part is the fact that the driver's power seat motors work great...
I bought a set of Putco LED lightbulbs and they have a weave on the backside to disperse the heat. They fit much easier than the fan style lights. I replaced both low and high beams over a year ago and they are working just fine. You can find them on Amazon.com
Under the hood of the LML's there are 2 fuses to pull for DRL - left and right. My headlights were always burning out, like every other month. Switched to LED bulbs and pulled the DRL fuses and that was 1.5 years ago (200,000 miles) and I am on the same bulbs.
LT tires seem to handle the high temperatures better than trailer only tires especially down here in the southwest. Gators are all over the roads already and it's just the beginning of summer. LT tires also handle the highway speeds more easily than the trailer only's...
I just drove in from L.A. to this miserable 121 (on the truck temp) and I am ready to head back to L.A. tomorrow for cooler weather and for work, too. It was nice spending the past week in Hercules, CA where it was in the 70's.
I run the grey bottle of Power Service at every fill up. I get maybe 1/2 mpg with it. I use it mainly for peace of mind for my injectors. I now have 452,000 miles on them and they are still running fine. I tried the expensive Holeshot stuff and holy cow my truck loves that stuff. 2 mpg better...
Just finished my Heavy duty front bumper installation with 12k winch. Added about 300lbs to the frontend of my truck. I have noticed slightly higher trans temp due to the blocked access area of the cooler.
