    You wouldn't see it on the other side, BUT one over performing injector is not enough to burn off your turbine if you are watching EGTs.

    If you melted the turbine, the damage was all your fault for not watching EGTs regardless of tune/injectors. Unfortunately, the piston cooling and power distribution on a Duramax will never be totally balanced.

    You are measuring in the wrong place. Measure just above the bottom of the skirt, perpendicular to the pin.

    PTW should be 0.0015" to 0.0025". Expected bore should be one of 4.055", 4.075", or 4.095". You're gonna need some block work and/or a different set of pistons. I would have to go back through my records, but I haven't made 0.025 relief pistons in over 5 years. Do you have pictures?

    One thing I have always liked about GM is that they tend to leave old bosses and mounting points in tact on new versions of their engine blocks. The bosses may not be tapped in some cases, but they are there if you need to use the block in a different application.

    What was your piston protrusion? Not that that is the issue. What bothers me about your description is that once a head gasket pops, it stays popped, even at lower power.
