    Opinions on kids

My wife and I talk about this all the time. We know quite a few people who have "accidents" at a young age and have a tough time but do all they can for their kids. That is somewhat understandable. But then we have other friends that are immature, do nothing but party, live paycheck to...

    LB7: New Injector Design

$4000 is too much. I have been installing the 07+ update injectors in LB7s for over 3 years and have never had problems with a single set. Just got a call this past week from one of the first sets I did, was a little worried until he said he wanted transmission work. As with any aging...

    LLY: LLY Rod Bolts

Why would you drill and tap the block when it is so much easier to do the non-structural upper oil pan?

    LB7: New Injector Design

The trucks came with a 5 year 100,000 mile warranty. GM recognized that the LB7 injectors were having a high failure rate so they extended the warranty to 7 years and 200,000 miles. Because of the 7 year limit there are really no LB7s that are still covered. Other companies have had worse...

    Bought a triple turbo duramax!

From the little I can hear it sounds like it lost a piston. Looks like oil is seaping from the exhaust port for #2. And all the smoke would be from the oil it is burning. Does it have a ton of blow by? To check for blow by you can either leave the oil fill cap on and check out the PCV or...

    LB7: New Injector Design

But keep a close eye and fix them as soon as they break - I've seen too many melted pistons on bone stock LB7s. Come in for an injector job and we inspect with the boroscope and find a piston melted. Calling to tell one customer that is how I ended up with a Kodiak - rod was bent to hell...

    Injectors or just tips?

To be clear for others - on an LB7 I personally would only spend the money to have them enlarged if I knew the history of them and that they were of the latest design. I have kept my eye on too many sets for customers that were fine then suddenly crapped out. On LLY and newer trucks if we...

    Injectors or just tips?

What is wrong with your stock ones to make you want new injectors? For one the LBZ injectors are hard to get your hands on right now so the price is pretty high when you do find them. LBZ injectors very rarely have any issues unless you run very bad fuel through them. If you want bigger...

    LB7: New Injector Design

FYI if they were done by GM in summer of '09 I wouldn't bet too much on them being the 2007+ design from Bosch. When you got the work done GM could have used a set that had been in stock since prior to 2007, at a dealership or at a GM warehouse. We would have to run the serial number to verify...

    torque converter noise?

torque converter bolts is my first guess. What had you torqued them to when you installed that Stage V?

    LB7: New Injector Design

Wow, really? Has this forum come to this? What is the problem with the latest (2007, real, current, non-fiction) Bosch upgrades to the LB7 injectors? How many have had injectors with the latest revision fail? I mean I keep LB7 injectors in stock and we change a 3-4 sets a month, but I have...

    Injectors or just tips?

Where are you guys getting this information? I have never heard of swapping tips fixing any problems with injectors, especially when a knock is involved. The ball and seat that most commonly gets worn and prevents complete shut-off of an injector (which causes knock) is not part of the tip...

    LLY: LLY Rod Bolts

I agree with everyone here. If money were limited the FIRST thing that I would do is the rods. We have bent, broken, and put rods through an LLY block with stock headbolts without ever blowing a gasket. Build a solid bottom end first with the money you have to work with, then start adding the...

    New upgraded avnt 37 charger??????

Matt, I would pull the turbo, drop in a BatMoWheel, pull your intake runners to fix the boost leak you have, reinstall the turbo, and put a 3" EGR delete Y-bridge on it. You could add in PPE or Pro-Fab manifolds and up-pipes while you are in there too. That would be a cheap way to get some...

    Build Advice. Seriously lol

Since he had said bigger injectors I hadn't mentioned this, but you're right - fuel getting returned to the tank can really affect things. I just had a truck in here today that had "new" injectors installed by a shade tree mechanic (took 4.5 MONTHS:eek:) and when they got it back it had an...

    Build Advice. Seriously lol

Yes, Jeremiah with a white crew cab LLY with my website across the windshield and "Mind if I Smoke" on the back glass. The stock CP3 would be your limiting factor on that setup, how good of shape it is in would determine how much a good tuner would be able to get out of the truck over all...

    Build Advice. Seriously lol

An LB7 can do 600 rwhp on stock injector but if you want to do it on a stock motor and have it last I would recommend bigger injectors so that you can run more conservative PW and timing, while still getting all the fuel you need for 600 rwhp. There are so many ways to get to 600 rwhp it's...

PPE vs .... General bitching about dual fuelers, etc.

I have PPE dual fuelers and have installed a decent amount of them without belt issues. I have run without a rev limited and pegged the Tach beyond 5000 RPM more times than I can count. Still has the belt on it that came with my kit. Travis, Jeremy, and Josh - I'm not saying that any of you...

    Built daily drivers??

As long as the TBIQ, Base Torque, and TLIQ tables are the same from tune to tune and you are only using PW and timing to change the power the trans doesn't have nearly as hard a time adjusting. I also use TH for hard driving and regular mode for putting around, which helps.

    Built daily drivers??

Too rapid of a change of RPM. I tried welding them, cutting grooves on the lathe to lay weld into, and all kinds of stuff - there is a thread here all about it. Would last forever if I was babying it but the first time I got on it and it broke the tires loose and flew through the RPM it would...
