I will try to get the glow plugs back in and put the intercooler pipes back on so I can start it and get a fuel pressure reading. I dont have a scanner, but I have a cheap bluetooth ODB2 scanner with the Torque app. I believe I've seen the fuel pressure reading in there before.
Here is a...
I have no problem trying this....just need some direction. I am not an electrical expert. Positive and Negative is as much as I know....ohms, amps, etc is where I start to get retarded.
Any good articles or youtube videos you can recommend to do this? I have no problem doing the work, just need...
I agree, but before I pull the trigger, I want to make sure that the injectors are the issue - remember, I was told these injectors were newly put in this motor when I got it.
Here is a long shot question....do you guys think it could be a bad harness?
The reason I ask is because I've had it...
Ok, finally got around to doing the compression test....here is what I got.....everything looks to be in good health.
1: 360
2: 380
3: 370
4: 370
5: 360
6: 360
7: 380
8: 370
What do you guys think I should check next?
Thanks guys....I am going to give this a shot today. Should I unplug the 4 plugs that go to the injectors, or just unplug the harness that goes to the FICM?
What is the correct way to do a compression test on a LB7? I have the tester from harbor freight, but I want to make sure I get the correct numbers.
Do I do a cold crank on a cold block? or warm it up? if so, what is the ideal temp? where should the temp be taken from?
I haven't ignored the suggestions of a compression test or leak down test.... The truck is not yet in my possession (still sitting at a shop) ...waiting to get it home and do all of the above.
Based on the video shown, do you think its wise to run this motor at any length of time with that hot shot injector cleaner stuff? I got some delivered, just curious if I am going to do more damage than its worth trying to band-aid the issue
So that ACDELCO x66P stuff is not readily available.....seems like everywhere is sold out of it...and the only stuff available is on ebay for $75 a bottle.
Anyone tried running that Hot Shot cleaner through the system like in that article above? If so, what mixture do you recommend?
If I were to fill a gas can with diesel and hook up a fuel line to draw from it....where should I have that hose go to? The inlet of the fuel filter head?
Also, should I fill the fuel filter with anything to help clean the injectors? or is all that stuff snake oil?
The fuel was maybe 6-8 months old at the time. The previous motor had a blown head gasket and in the process it melted the head and put aluminum down in the cylinder. I tried just replacing the head gasket, but it still had low compression in that cylinder.
Soooo here I am again (previous thread) ....I got that motor sent back and got my money back from them without issue.
I picked up another motor locally from a friend of a friend. The story on it is the guy bought the truck at an auction. It was a grandpa truck - totally unmolested and well...
I get what you are saying - I really do...
...but I asked for help trying to identify the motor to help prove my case. Which I got a ton of help here and I am very grateful for. I didn't ever ask how I should handle the situation. I have only given those details to help people understand the...
...and you think this company will just shrug their shoulders and walk away? Even though I have a ton of evidence to prove I am right, they have every right to try to sue me. To me the stress and time, and lawyer fees n crap isn't worth $458. Just going to send it back and be done with it.
I...
I got a quote from Cal Transport to ship it from Vegas to Tampa for $458
I think I am just going to eat that $458 and call it a hard lesson learned.
My truck has been down since June 2019 and I am defeated. I just want it over with. I already have another motor lined up that's local..and...
A quick google search renders this is the truck with the VIN they supplied.
Carfax report shows last reported mileage was 70k in 2016. Truck was totaled at the end of 2019
