    also i will add that yesterday i put the truck in reverse and the box around the R started flashing....let my foot off brake and truck didn't move. shifted it into drive and then back into reverse. it clanked and went into reverse

    i'm thinking its the flywheel. i've checked the exhaust. its more of a rattle coming from the back of the motor. its loudest underneath.

    wouldn't an exhaust leak get worse with more rpms? it completely goes away after 1000rpms....and whats the rattle that happens when i shut it off?.....

    thanks guys! first thing i did was tune it back down to stock. no change in sound. i will have balance rates checked tomorrow. you know the cracked flex plate doen't sound that far fetched. the noise is loudest under truck where engine and tranny meet. maybe the injector issue is just echoing...

    ....maybe if they're 150lb crickets.....more like a loud clack or cackle sound that speeds up with rpms...then goes away a 1000rpms. the sound is lounder than the trucks exhaust which is straight piped and the motor itself is drowned out by this new developing sound.

    Sorry. my intention was not offend anyone.:) a friend said i might get more attention on this forum by wording my title that way. He said that the guys over here really know their stuff and generally aren't fans of duramax forum. I've just got a broke down truck i need for work and i need help...

    no it doesn't have to be in gear. it starts rattling right when i start it up. and the rattle is louder than my motor and straight piped exhaust. it clearly sounds like it is coming from inside the motor. If it were a gas motor i would think i had a real bad header gasket leak. but like i said...
