    2006 LBZ cooling problem

Thanks for the detailed answer, everything you said makes good sense. One last cooling system question. Does the ac Delco water pump I just removed have value to anyone or is it just trash? I’m assuming it’s trash since the new one came with no core fee, but thought it was worth asking.

    The new Limo

Ahh I see, didn't know they added a catch can. Too bad they didn't engineer it well enough so that people wouldn't be smelling oil vapors in the cab of their brand new truck. At least you're fortunate enough to be able to solve problems like that quickly and easily.

    The new Limo

That's a badass rig! Love what you did with the wheel/tire combo. I'm amazed that people are still doing PCV re-routes. Does GM not know about this problem, not care, or is there no good solution given the current regulations?

    2006 LBZ cooling problem

I'm curious what your opinions are on a coolant filtration system. The truck has 355K on it, has been through numerous coolant changes and at least one water pump. Seems like anything in the system would be gone by now. I'm interested in maximizing the longevity and reliability of this truck, I...

    Lower Radiator Hose Help

I’ve learned you just got to know what to take out to access those bolts. If you take out the intake and supporting brackets and the driver side fender well plus inter cooler pipe, it’s trivial to access the lower bolts. Removing all those things is quick and easy. And if you have an lbz it’s...

    2006 LBZ cooling problem

Yeah it’s pretty nuts. I’ve worked on Cummins and 7.3 power strokes but this is by far the biggest pain in the ass. Just a steep learning curve I guess. This job went way smoother and faster than the last time I worked on the cooling system and had to pull the fan.

    2006 LBZ cooling problem

Is this fan shroud someone’s solution to the last model’s cooling problems? The thing is a total pain in the ass an complicates this job in multiple ways.

    LBZ electrical problem

I removed everything from the first stereo installation and took it back down to stock, and then used an adapter kit for the new stereo I put it.

    2006 LBZ cooling problem

That’s what I thought but I just wanted to be sure. Don’t want to have to take this front of the engine apart for a third time when I could just replace everything now.

    2006 LBZ cooling problem

So now I’m doing this water pump because I was a cheap dummy and didn’t want to replace a part that “didn’t seem to need replacing”. It’s all going well since I have all the experience from before. My question now concerns the power steering pump. It has a little bit of in-out shaft play. Not...

    LBZ electrical problem

LBZ_baker, if you could provide some screenshots it would be much appreciated. Unfortunately I haven’t had any time to deal with this issue, being the holidays and all. My wife is already pissed that I have to replace the water pump while we are on our Christmas vacation. Dndj: It is an...

    LBZ electrical problem

Okay thanks. I’ll check the grounds tomorrow after I’m done replacing my water pump. I should have replaced it when I did the fan clutch and radiator hoses but I was being cheap. Stupid me.

    LBZ electrical problem

I’m guessing it might be a failing relay that all those things have in common. It makes the most sense to me. I’ll try to find the wiring diagrams online, unless anybody already knows a good website to find them and can save me a little time. Any help is appreciated.

    LBZ electrical problem

I’m having an issue where my stereo and all my gauges except the tach and speedo will suddenly lose power while driving. This doesn’t happen often and the truck keeps driving normally, and everything will power back on after a few minutes. Anybody have an idea of what may be going on?

Never mind I finally found the part number.

    2006 LBZ cooling problem

Anybody know the part number for the plastic retainer clips on the bottom hose? I’m having trouble finding it and I would like to replace the old ones.

    2006 LBZ cooling problem

It was a tongue in cheek statement, but thank god I won’t have to do this every two years. Pulling the radiator was a huge pain in the ass.

    2006 LBZ cooling problem

Got it back together, really wasn’t that hard. Thanks for the replies. Looking at all the stuff clogging my stack, it easy to b see why the truck overheated coming over the grapevine. Chalk this up to another thing manufacturers don’t figure out in the design and testing phase.

    2006 LBZ cooling problem

My old lines were leaking like the Exxon Valdez, so I’m installing a set of fleece lines. That’s why I was taking out the old fittings.

    2006 LBZ cooling problem

Well this has turned into a bit of a nightmare. I was unaware that I had to remove the transmission line fitting from the radiator and replace them one at a time, so now the transmission cooler dropped to the bottom. Can I salvage this situation or should I get a new radiator for my...
